feel the light shining in the night | The sun was shining, the wind was crisp with new-leaf. Everything seemed pretty peaceful, and it was quiet in the camp. Not to say that no one was doing anything- just that most everybody was out on patrol, hunting, or quietly attending to their own business within the camp. Sure there were the general background noises of typical clan life... but as it was, it was simply quiet. And that kinda bothered Emberpaw. He liked noise and activity, and he liked it when it was clear that there was stuff happening, especially if he was the one doing something. Being new to the apprentice thing, he still had wildly untrue expectations of the position, which the current absence of his Mentor was currently disrupting. His tail twitched and his claws kneaded the soft dirt under his feet. Not having anything to do was new to him, honestly. His uncaring days of kithood were over, and even if they weren't, most of the kits he knew were apprentices now, and his siblings were... Well, anyway, boredom wasn't a thing he was familiar with, and it being such a nice day only added to his desire for activity. What kind of apprentice has his first official day as an apprentice spent in camp?! Shouldn't he be out hunting, or learning the territory? Whiskers twitched and he began to pace, occasionally batting at some feathers that had fallen off of someone's lunch. Should he go and find Eaglestrike? No, he was probably on patrol or doing something important for Rosestar. Finally he couldn't take it anymore, and he took to padding through the camp, asking around if there was anything he could help with or something he could do, but the general consensus was 'No, not really. We've got everything covered.', so he was left to return to his kneaded spot of dirt and wait until Eaglestrike appeared to take him training. At least, that was the plan, until he caught sight of a rather twitchy apprentice that he faintly recognized as Spottedpaw. Though Emberpaw wasn't sure if she just finished doing something or if she had been there the whole time before he spotted her. Quietly snickering at himself for the internal pun, he decided to go and try and strike up a conversation. Happily approaching the she-cat, the young tom recalled that they were about the same age, though she had become an apprentice before him so she was clearly older. If his mentor couldn't be around to teach him stuff, then he might as well start making himself familiar with his fellow apprentices! And honestly, he was curious to know why she looked so jittery. Maybe she was as bored as he was. With a friendly wave of his tail and bent ears swiveling towards her, he gave a cheerful greeting. "Hi there, Spottedpaw! What're you up to?"
