Hi everyone,
This announcement is being made with an extremely heavy heart, and we know it may not be a popular one. However, Alee and I have made the decision that we are going to be closing Chasing the Sun by the end of the month. Originally, we were going to wait till the end of the activity check before making the call either way, as no doubt some of you picked up from my introduction to the check itself. But, after seeing some of the most recent hiatuses and their updates, and talking with a few members who will not be continuing on the site, we’ve decided at this stage in time, it’s the right time to bring things to a close.
2016 has been a hard year for everyone, and I don’t think any of us expected the family, health, study and life issues that have come barrelling in and taking away every inch of free time we have. My heart goes out to absolutely everyone who’s run into these hurdles, and it’s of paramount importance that everyone does put their lives before roleplaying. As heartbreaking as it’s been to see you all suffering through these tough times, every single one of you is a strong, resilient person who keeps on fighting, and that’s been so great to see. I sincerely hope that in the next few months, things start looking up, that life becomes easier, that health issues get sorted, that family bond together and any computer issues resolve themselves.
The unfortunate thing being, it has been a tough year for everyone, and looking at how many of us just do not have the time right now to boost the site up the way we want to, or need to in order to justify it continuing, we’ve reached a bit of a tough situation. While I have no doubt of everyone’s love of the site, their characters, and their plots… the fact is, we’ve reached a point where in order to make the site as active and enjoyable as it needs to be to progress any further in the story, we would need to start being unfair to those going through hard times and do rank adjustments, we would need to ask for more activity from everyone, we would need to start changing what CTS was designed to be, and that’s not something Alee or I want to do either. CTS was designed to be a laid back, relatively easy-going site, and unfortunately, we’ve reached a bit of a point where that has somewhat come around to bite it in the tail.
The other element it comes down to is with the lack of progression, and the hard times coming down on all of us, muse and interest in roleplaying itself has no doubt taken a serious hit. In my case particularly, unfortunately a lot of little bits and pieces over the last few months and the drastic changes that have had to happen have done a large number on my own interest/muse for CTS specifically, which in turn also impacts whether the site continued or not. We all love CTS to absolute bits, and it’s heartbreaking to let it go, but, a time has been reached where in order to avoid changing it into something it isn’t, it’s time to move on to new, muse-inspiring, different things. It gives those of you who were holding on for the love of the site the space you need to take time away from roleplaying to focus on your lives. It frees up some of us who are here through love alone to look on for new ventures. Roleplaying should always be a fun, relaxing time, and I think we were reaching the point where for some of us, that wasn’t the case anymore.
Let me be particularly clear here. CTS is not closing because of any one person, or any select group of people. Unfortunately, it has just been a bit of a victim of circumstance, and it is time to move on. In the end, it was my own interest and muse that has made the final decision, if anyone.
Alee and I will be moving on to a new Warriors site that is in progress of being made at the moment, and will be shared here once we get everything together. So we’re certainly not about to disappear off the face of the Earth. However, it will be a very different pace and focus to what CTS is, aimed more at rapid-fire character development in intra-clan relationships, over wider forest/multiple clan plotlines. Obviously, not everyone’s cup of tea.
So, what will happen with CTS from here on? We will be closing off registrations with the posting of this message. From here, you are more than welcome to finish off any posts and threads that you’d like to, or even whole plots if you have people who agree to do the same. The cbox will expire in the next week or so, but will be left up until that happens. Alee and I will likely pop in here and there, but we won’t be here all the time or moderating on further from this point. In around a week, we’ll put the site into member’s only, so you’ll still have full access to anything in the future should you want to access it, and if you want to continue to finish off anything. However, that will be the point Alee and I do move on entirely.
Alee and I do not really want to discuss this decision any further. It’s honestly breaking us to make the choice as it is. However, if you do want to keep in contact in the long run, the skype chat won’t be touched and skypes can be found here along with a link to that chat. Alee and I can be contacted on skype at kerinascoop and bananaberrywaffle, just make sure you tell us who you are.
So, finally, to conclude, thank you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for giving CTS a chance, for coming and making stories and friendships with us. This has really been a special place that has meant the world, and some long-time friendships have no doubt come from our time here. Thank you to everyone who checks in a lot, who check in very little, who come back from vanishing to let us know you’re alive. Thank you for joining on the first day, or on the last. Thank you for making the site everything that it has been and giving up a piece of your time to be part of it all. Really, we’d be nothing without every single one of you, and wherever life takes you from here on, I hope you all find a safe, happy, healthy way to continue on with what you do, because you’re all awesome, and will do more awesome things as time goes on.
Thank you, everyone.
