With a last lick over her front paw, the she-cat decided her fur was washed enough now. Her green eyes looked around nervously. She stood outside an old stone thing, but she wasn't quite sure what it was. The smells of mice where very tempting, but it could be dangerous. The tabby had washed herself while watching to see if there was any movement whatsoever. There wasn't. Still a bit hesitant, she crouched down and stalked towards the thing. There was an opening in front of it. Pocahontas walked through, looking up to the blocked sky. It was pretty high, she wondered how big something had to be to make something like this. It just couldn't be natural. She sniffed the air and smelled a mouse, very close. After looking around another time, she decided it couldn't hurt. Beside mouse and some old cat smells, she didn't scent anything else. Pocahontas stalked towards her prey. It looked fat and juicy, an amazing meal for the lean she-cat. Some may call her skimpy, but she was just well trained. Not like these aggressive clan cats or those fat kitty cats. There was no wind here, but she was still very cautious. Just one more step.. And another.. Her front paw picked the mouse up and she clasped to it, ending it's life with one bit. Pocahontas looked around again, a bit nervous, and picked the mouse up. She walked towards the hole where she came in and sat next to it - invisible for anyone walking by, but so that she could see anyone coming in. There, she started to eat.

Although the weather was still cold, it hadn't stopped Wormpaw from attempting to follow his mother. She had left early that morning, without any warning to himself or a fellow clanmate. Wormpaw would know-- he had asked around, frantic to know where his beloved mother had ran off to. The answer was always the same-- "How am I supposed to know? I'm not her keeper," It had angered Wormpaw somewhat, but he simply made an excuse up in his head in attempts to back up their rather harsh and uncaring words.

That being said, he wouldn't just stand by and wait for his mother to return-- Wormpaw was determined to find her and bring her back to camp. So, without another peep to anybody, including Stoneshade his mentor, the tom had set out into the forest. He had only been in the forest alone once, when him and his mother had traveled to the twoleg dens in search for his father. They had returned to the clan with nothing except for a mouse, which her mother had caught with little to no trouble so that they at least had something to bring back to the clan.

The only other time he had even talked about leaving the forest was with Stoneshade only a few days back, but that was about as far as their adventures had proceeded-- just a conversation, and a little bit of cuddling because Wormpaw was freezing his tail off. As it was his first time alone in the forest, Wormpaw's tail was tightly wrapped around his hairless leg, holding on to it for dear life. It wasn't dark outside, but the shadow that the treetops cast onto the ground was surely enough to frighten the apprentice, make him be more aware. His eyes were squinted for the most part, until he saw an opening in the underbrush, which he obviously started towards.

This was not where his mother was. Although Wormpaw did not know how to track, he did know when he scented his mother, and she was nowhere to be found. Instead, he smelt the scent of mice, which he had picked up from a few trips here and there to the freshkill pile, and the scent of an unfamiliar cat, which made his peach fuzz stand up on the back of his neck. He knew he needed to be cautious, but he wasn't sure what to do. On one side of him, the forest was dark and eerie, not something that he was particularly interested in entering. On the other side of him, there was a bright field that looked relatively friendly. On top of that, there seemed to be some shelter, and where there was shelter there was probably small animals trying to start families.

So, obviously, Wormpaw padded out into the open, looking around curiously for any signs of predator or prey, hopefully the ladder.

The mouse she had caught was soon done, but the ground here was made of a stone that was too hard to bury the rests under. The she-cat thought for a second what to do with them, but her thoughts where soon cut short when another scent drifted into her nose. Another cat, and a clan cat if she was correct. Her short tabby fur raised on her spine and her lip curled up in a snarl. The lean loner stalked towards what she sees as a thread, until he became visible. It was the ugliest thing she had every seen - a naked cat with some patches of hair here and there, but nothing that could really give him warmth. It would be very vulnerable with such a naked skin, and it even made her think of a mole or a worm of some sorts. It looked pretty young, definitely not older than 12 moons, and walked out in the open like it owned this land. Pocahontas stood in the opening of the building, almost protective, and growled. She wasn't planning to share her new-found place with anyone else, and especially not with a clan-cat who had a whole territory to hunt in.

Wormpaw as undoubtedly an apprentice, or at least a poorly trained young warrior. Wormpaw, now beginning to get worried, looked around to see what he could see. Unfortunately for him, Wormpaw had chosen the wrong direction to go to, and should've retreated back into the forest. In front of him was a she-cat, hissing and spitting with rather sharp looking fangs barred straight towards him. Wormpaw swallowed, and then pinned his naked ears back against his skull, watching Pocahontas with a daring yellow gaze.

After a long while of simply staring, Wormpaw cleared his throat and began to speak. "I, um.." he paused for a moment. This she-cat, although smaller than him, was beginning to scare him. Which was probably what she wanted, but nonetheless it was working. "I don't mean no harm," What else was he supposed to say to a feline barring her fangs at him? He had never been around anything besides a fellow WindClanner.

The tabby snarled disbelieving. Ofcourse, the naked little worm wasn't meaning to harm anyone, was he? Humph. She walked forwards until she stood right before the Windclan apprentice. He was taller than her, but she should be stronger - she was older and had more experience. The scar on the left side of her face was clearly visible now, reminding everyone of the dangers she had survived. She had killed a badger, mostly on her own - her father had died trying to help her. Pocahontas growled lowly. "Go back to you clan", she spat, her short hair standing upright on her back. "And go hunt there, you rabbit!"

This announcement is being made with an extremely heavy heart, and we know it may not be a popular one. However, Alee and I have made the decision that we are going to be closing Chasing the Sun by the end of the month. Originally, we were going to wait till the end of the activity check before making the call either way, as no doubt some of you picked up from my introduction to the check itself. But, after seeing some of the most recent hiatuses and their updates, and talking with a few members who will not be continuing on the site, we’ve decided at this stage in time, it’s the right time to bring things to a close.

Chasing the Sun is a play-by-post roleplay based on the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. We are set in the original forest in an alternative universe from the books, where SkyClan were never forced from the forest and the characters we have known and loved have not existed. We have a 150-word minimum and a sandbox roleplay setting that does not have an overarching plot, only those that members form together. The world is there to shape by the characters than inhabit it, growing the forest into something unique from what we have seen before. THUNDERCLAN VERSES BADGERS
Due to a change of high ranks that is to take place, this plot has been updated and modified. if you were originally involved, please make sure to check the thread and voice if you still want involvement as soon as possible! The Forest Prince is the the current thread leading into the start of this plot.

WIND/SHADOW VERSES ROGUES
Redstar, Rosestar and their fellow high ranks of WindClan and ShadowClan have met on the border of the clans and formed a truce, after it has become aware that a group of rogues has become a threat. Both leaders have addressed this issue in their clan meetings, with Rosestar setting the rule that until the rogues have been dealt with, cats are not to leave camp alone.

WINDCLAN - MEDICINE CAT PLOT
A significant change has taken place in the direction of this plot, and the main post has now been edited to reflect such. We are still looking for WindClan cats to be involved, so if you have a cat you’d like to have something happen to, places are still open.

SKYCLAN VERSES RIVERCLAN
With the border clash narrowly avoided by Pinestar’s intervention, steam has yet to ease, as the SkyClan patrol stand in camp to address the clan getting too ambitious. Meanwhile, with the change in leadership of RiverClan causing discomfort across the clan, there is no doubt that everyone is on edge. Another clash is imminent.
