She was soooooo bored, and it was clearly irritating her mother. As the sand colored kitten rolled around in the dirt, the red she-cat sighed quietly. "Don't do that Sandkit, you'll make you pelt dirty.", she said quietly to not wake up the even younger kittens and their mothers - even though it was about sunhigh, they always slept. Sandkit giggled slightly and rolled back on her belly. "I'm saaaaaaand!", she squeaked happy. Firefur was probably wondering why they ever, ever decided to name her Sandkit. It wasn't such a good decision, apparently. But still the queen couldn't help but giggle with her daughter as she continued to roll in the sand.

The evening was a warm one and the older tom cat had done all of his patrols and was now bringing fresh kill to his mate and kit in the nursery. Sandkit had been the only kit of their first litter and the pride still thumped in the chest of Whitestone with every step he took. He shook out his fur as his white pelt dragged into the nursery and he purred at the view. Sandkit was rolling around in the dirt while her mother simply shook her head and laughed. The purr in his throat grew as he dropped a mouse in front of Firefur and aimed a lick between her ears before turning to the kit. His pale gaze was amused as he watched her roll around. "If you keep that up, you are going to be nothing but a dust ball, rolling in the wind." He meowed, striking his paw playfully at the little kit. His tail waved slightly behind him as he tucked his paws and flopped down, allowing the cool sand to soak up into his white fur as he watched his little she kit play.

The kitten stopped rolling and looked up at her father, smiling happily. "Daddy!" But once the words he had said registered in her mind, she froze completely, her kitten-blue eyes big. She would be nothing.. But a dustball? Her small mouth fell open as she tried to comprehend the sentence. He didn't mean she would really turn to dust, did he? It couldn't be. "I.. I.. No kitten.. Anymowe?", Sandkit asked, her high voice sounding terrified and shocked. She didn't want to be a dustball, she wanted to be a cat, a kitten, she wanted to grow up and become apprentice and later a warrior!

Daddy! The tom cat purred happily as the she cat called to him and he lowered his haunches into a sitting position. It still warmed his heart every time she called him that and it constantly seemed like she truly wasn't his kit, that he wasn't enough to have been in the matter of creating such a beautiful kitten. But, he still loved her more than words could say, and if by chance he was capable, then he was proud to call the little she kit his daughter.

Whitestone's ears twitched in amusement as the little cat's face fell at his words and she suddenly looked terrified. Could a kit really become some form of a dustball? He laughed mentally, but rose to his paws and walked over to the pale colored kitten. The white tom wrapped his tail around Sandkit's tiny frame and pulled her towards him, lowering his nose to bump against her head affectionately.

"Don't you worry, little one, your mom and I will try our best to keep the evil dust foxes away." His voice was a sweet purr and he was sure that it would rumble the kitten all the way through her bones. "But, you have to do your part and try and keep as clean as a kit can be, alright?" His tail swayed in amusement and he head butted the sandy kitten gently, a big smile curled onto his face.

Her blue kitten eyes looked up as her father as he bumped his nose softly against her head. His deep voice rumbled through her bones when he spoke, and she loved it. It made her feel so warm and safe. She purred slightly, and her face became a bit more relaxed as she nodded understandingly. She looked serious as she swore to try and keep clean, so her mother and her father would be able to keep the evil dust foxes away. She wanted to be a kitten. "I clean!", declared Sandkit, her squeaking voice one hundred percent serious.
