The small kitten had to lay on her back to see the sun at noon. It was above everyone's head, high up in the sky. She wasn't very old, but Sandkit already knew you could see the day was almost half over when the sun was so far. The sand colored kitten layed sprawled out on her back in front of the nursery, right outside the entrance. She had begged long before her mother decided it was alright for her to lie here, but only if she didn't wander of. She had spent a while watching the busy camplife and ogling the big beauty of the open space. It was so nice, she wished she could look all day, but it became boring after a while. So she let her fell down and stared up at the sky, which is what she was doing now.

Nightpaw ---

Nightpaw was casually romping around the camp enjoying her downtime after being released from the evening patrol. It was a long walk and her paws had formed the slightest of achs but it wasn't like her to complain. The apprentice glanced about the clearing with wide emerald orbs observing cats with interest in their daily routines. She was lucky enough to not have her father baring down on her to badger her with questions about her day as he so often did. As his youngest living child she seemed to be the center of his universe and goodness how she wished she wasn't. Just as the apprentice was about to give up on any excitement her eyes caught sight of a familiar sandy shaded pelt - Sandkit. The kit was one of her litter and a lone child much as she herself had conformed to.

The lanky apprentice shook out her ebony pelt, with a hop and a skip she was toddling off toward the kitten with a smile from ear to ear. 'Hey, Sandkit! Firefur actually let you outside for once. I'm in shock!' Nightpaw mused with a soft chuckle of amusement as she sat down beside the fallen kitten. Raising her paw she casually prodded at the kit's ear in faint amusement of the oddity.

The small kitten frowned a bit strange when a shadow came over her. Her kitten-blue eyes looked up - or down, or whatever. She looked at the cat blocking her sunlight. It was an apprentice with an ebony pelt and a huge smile on her face. Sandkit couldn't help but smile back. Rolling onto her belly and then standing up, she nodded at her statement. "I begged!", she exclaimed happily. "Mommy yessed!" The young she-cat didn't know yet that "yessed" not really a word was, but that didn't matter. The apprentice would surely understand her message. "You name?", asked she immediately after, not giving the apprentice any time to think about her previous statement. Sandkit thought she had seen her before, but couldn't remember her name - if she already knew it.

The slender apprentice stood tall over the little fur ball that was Sandkit. The kitten nodded excitedly as she told of her begging to Firefur, the kit's mother. Nightpaw herself could recall herself when she was a kit pestering her own mother to be allowed to escape the nursery and mind after others. Petalkit was always right behind her ready to explore the camp with her and learn more. She felt as if she could relate to little Sandkit. "You name?" came the child like reply, and Nightpaw had to stifle a hint of laughter from forming on her lips. "Well you see little Sandkit, my mother named me Nightkit, and then when I became an apprentice I became Nightpaw!" The ebony apprentice flexed her long winding tail outward as she spoke striking a majestic sort of pose.

Dropping her haunches to the ground, the she-cat glanced about the darkening clearing with faint amusement. Her nose making note of the strong scent of milk radiating off of Sandkit's little form. How that scent reminded her of her childhood and the wonderful moments chasing after warriors and dusting off little Petalkit after she'd stumbled over her own lanky tail. Nightpaw hadn't even noticed but she had completely dazed out for a moment. Chuckling with a hint of embrassment causing her cheeks to heat. Emerald orbs pinpointed on the kit. "So, what do you think so far?"

The kitten nodded enthusiastically, mentally adding the new name to her library. Nightpaw, such a cool name! And it fitted the apprentice too, with her ebony fur. She stood proud, her long tail outward. Sandkit's kitten-blue eyes shone curiously as she watched the way the she-cat stood. She was so beautiful, so full of pride, but not too much.. It was amazing to watch. Unconsciously copying the apprentice, she stood a little bit more upright, waving her short tail slightly in happiness. Nightpaw was quiet for a moment, but her question confused the small kitten. She cocked her head sidewards, frowning ever so slightly. "Huh?", she squeaked with her high kittenvoice. "Of what?"

Nightpaw was amused to see the tiny form of Sandkit stretch out to mimic her own pose. The apprentice did her best to stifle the little chuckle of amusement that was forming in her throat as she tried not to crush the kitten's confidence in herself. If there was anything Nightpaw knew it was even the smallest little kittens could one day become the greatest cats of the forest. It seemed the kitten hadn't quite understood her question. Arching her brow in response, Nightpaw dropped her soft belly against the sand that littered this area of the clearing. 'Well, I meant what do you think of the camp and life so far little one?' It was a strange question to ask a kit - she knew that much but she was curious.

"Oh", answered Sandkit, finally getting the question Nightpaw was trying to ask. The sand colored tabby went to sit down and tilted her head a bit, thinking about the question. It was a strange question, what should she answer? ".. Nice", answered the kitten hesitantly, frowning slightly. Her kitten-blue eyes looked unfocused at the apprentice, looking straight trough her as she was thinking. "And.. Fun?" It was more a question than an answer, but she knew it was what she found of everything so far. "Yeah, fun.", she decided eventually, looking at Nightpaw to confirm if it was the right answer.

Hi everyone,
This announcement is being made with an extremely heavy heart, and we know it may not be a popular one. However, Alee and I have made the decision that we are going to be closing Chasing the Sun by the end of the month. Originally, we were going to wait till the end of the activity check before making the call either way, as no doubt some of you picked up from my introduction to the check itself. But, after seeing some of the most recent hiatuses and their updates, and talking with a few members who will not be continuing on the site, we’ve decided at this stage in time, it’s the right time to bring things to a close.

Chasing the Sun is a play-by-post roleplay based on the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. We are set in the original forest in an alternative universe from the books, where SkyClan were never forced from the forest and the characters we have known and loved have not existed. We have a 150-word minimum and a sandbox roleplay setting that does not have an overarching plot, only those that members form together. The world is there to shape by the characters than inhabit it, growing the forest into something unique from what we have seen before. With plenty of characters and a community that is always looking for new people to join in the fun, we are always happy to have new faces joining the ranks! THUNDERCLAN VERSES BADGERS
Due to a change of high ranks that is to take place, this plot has been updated and modified. if you were originally involved, please make sure to check the thread and voice if you still want involvement as soon as possible! The Forest Prince is the the current thread leading into the start of this plot.

WIND/SHADOW VERSES ROGUES
Redstar, Rosestar and their fellow high ranks of WindClan and ShadowClan have met on the border of the clans and formed a truce, after it has become aware that a group of rogues has become a threat. Both leaders have addressed this issue in their clan meetings, with Rosestar setting the rule that until the rogues have been dealt with, cats are not to leave camp alone.

WINDCLAN - MEDICINE CAT PLOT
A significant change has taken place in the direction of this plot, and the main post has now been edited to reflect such. We are still looking for WindClan cats to be involved, so if you have a cat you’d like to have something happen to, places are still open.

SKYCLAN VERSES RIVERCLAN
With the border clash narrowly avoided by Pinestar’s intervention, steam has yet to ease, as the SkyClan patrol stand in camp to address the clan getting too ambitious. Meanwhile, with the change in leadership of RiverClan causing discomfort across the clan, there is no doubt that everyone is on edge. Another clash is imminent.
