Smallpaw sniffed around the ThunderClan and RiverClan border-- admittedly she was looking for prey. Her wide green eyes looked at the river in fear, she could see silver fish darting in the rushing waters but she really didn't want to have to swim to get them. What if she fell in!? No cat was with her to get her... She'd have to swim all by herself.
Smallpaw had heard stories of Sunningrocks, and how they rightfully belonged to RiverClan, but ThunderClan was too stubborn and fox-hearted to admit it. She had to admit, it was a nice patch of territory-- those rocks looked really warm and nice to lay on, but she couldn't test them out. Those rocks belonged to ThunderClan-- as a kit she heard tales of how Inkstar, the leader long before Magpiestar, had fought ThunderClan and SkyClan a lot. This was just one of the battlegrounds.
She sniffed the air. There had been no bloodshed here in a while... nor any ThunderClan cats-- which was good, not because she was planning on crossing the border, but because she didn't want a confrontation at all. Smallpaw had a feeling all the ThunderClan cats were bigger than her. Not a particularly difficult feat, but a worry of hers nonetheless.
The calico apprentice padded along the bank. Her eyes widened as she spotted a water vole, but it had already spotted her. Smallpaw fruitlessly darted after it, and it skirted through shallow water onto a rock, only to nimbly hop to another one. Smallpaw attempted the same, but a hasty jump and a rock made wet by the vole caused her worst fears to play out.
She slipped and fell into the river with a hard splash. Smallpaw batted her legs and paws, trying to fight the current with as much strength as she could muster. "H-help me! Somebody help me!" She mewled as her mouth filled with water. She coughed it out only to swallow more and get swept by the current downstream.
As her view started to blacken she saw a reed sticking out of the river, and Smallpaw grasped on with her claws, looking like a frightened kit. The reed was in the middle of the river, though-- she needed some cat to help her out, toss her a branch, something. "Please! Anybody!"
