If there was one place he was not going to be ambushed by bloodthirsty rogues, it would be elbows deep in the muddy marshes. Which was exactly where Snakefang found himself at sunhigh. He had thought- it's gross there, maybe they won't bug me and I can hunt for a few hours alone, hopefully catching something with his poor skill. A slow frog or perhaps a butterfly. Okay, okay, he would be the first to admit maybe he was being lazy. There was simply no room to breathe in camp, all the stagnant bodies, huddled close, emanating fear.

He had nothing to fear, with his long silver claws and broad strong shoulders. He was a powerhouse in battle, but apparently, not intelligent enough to notice the loose peat right under his snout. Now the sucking mud had pulled him into a mire and he found himself a fair amount stuck, elbows deep, in green, sliming, stinking mud. It coated his belly fur and splashed his flapping tail and he leaned back onto his haunches, trying to work his paws out of their cold, disgusting prison.

A small part of him prayed for a passing patrol, even with the red-hot embarrassment that prickled his fur. He'd even take a bloodthirsty rogue at this moment, if they would only pull him out before they killed him. A brown, bumpy toad hopped up beside him, blinking it's glassy eyes as the scene before him as if to mock the young tom. Spitting ragefully, he kicked out at the toad with his hind paws, twisting himself in a rather painful manner and sliding his haunches through the mud. The toad lept safely away, hardly phased by the tantrum.

With a hiss, he flopped and scrabbled around in the mossy peat, trying to regain his askew footwork. Finally, he gave up, and groaned cattishly in his frustrations. Maybe he'd wanted a little too much room to breathe.

the sight was almost pitiful, but above all, it was comical. snakefang's flailing and vain efforts to free himself only resulted in a tangled mess and a pelt caked with mud. onyxfeather smirked from his safespot a few paces away from the warrior. his own paws were riddled with mud from his trek through the marshes, blots of the blasted stuff clung to his chest and underside.

onyxfeather chuckled, allowing his presence to be known by his comrade. "well quit your struggling, you're only going to make it worse." the deputy rumbled in gentle amusement, speaking lightly so as not to antagonize snakefang. "try and spread out your weight, and i'll see if i can get to you."

with that onyxfeather slowly picked his way forward. he slowly extended each forepaw, pushing it into the spongey earth. after applying a bit of pressure, the tall ebony tom determined whether it would support him before stepping forward fully. finally, when onyxfeather had gotten as close as he cloud without being sucked into the sink, too, the deputy lowered himself low to her earth. "okay," he began hesitantly, assessing the distance between he and the warrior. "i'm going to reach forward, grab you by the scruff, and attempt to pull you out." his tail thumped nervously against the ground. "are you ready?" he prayed to starclan he didn't fall in too. what a sight that would be!

Hi everyone,
This announcement is being made with an extremely heavy heart, and we know it may not be a popular one. However, Alee and I have made the decision that we are going to be closing Chasing the Sun by the end of the month. Originally, we were going to wait till the end of the activity check before making the call either way, as no doubt some of you picked up from my introduction to the check itself. But, after seeing some of the most recent hiatuses and their updates, and talking with a few members who will not be continuing on the site, we’ve decided at this stage in time, it’s the right time to bring things to a close.

Chasing the Sun is a play-by-post roleplay based on the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. We are set in the original forest in an alternative universe from the books, where SkyClan were never forced from the forest and the characters we have known and loved have not existed. We have a 150-word minimum and a sandbox roleplay setting that does not have an overarching plot, only those that members form together. The world is there to shape by the characters than inhabit it, growing the forest into something unique from what we have seen before. THUNDERCLAN VERSES BADGERS
Due to a change of high ranks that is to take place, this plot has been updated and modified. if you were originally involved, please make sure to check the thread and voice if you still want involvement as soon as possible! The Forest Prince is the the current thread leading into the start of this plot.

WIND/SHADOW VERSES ROGUES
Redstar, Rosestar and their fellow high ranks of WindClan and ShadowClan have met on the border of the clans and formed a truce, after it has become aware that a group of rogues has become a threat. Both leaders have addressed this issue in their clan meetings, with Rosestar setting the rule that until the rogues have been dealt with, cats are not to leave camp alone.

WINDCLAN - MEDICINE CAT PLOT
A significant change has taken place in the direction of this plot, and the main post has now been edited to reflect such. We are still looking for WindClan cats to be involved, so if you have a cat you’d like to have something happen to, places are still open.

SKYCLAN VERSES RIVERCLAN
With the border clash narrowly avoided by Pinestar’s intervention, steam has yet to ease, as the SkyClan patrol stand in camp to address the clan getting too ambitious. Meanwhile, with the change in leadership of RiverClan causing discomfort across the clan, there is no doubt that everyone is on edge. Another clash is imminent.
