Her paws barely stirred the grass as Icemask crept along the riverbank. Even though the Riverclan mostly seemed to thrive on fish, other small animals like mice would suffice just fine for a meal. Her eyes were fixated on the tiny creature, scurrying between some leaves. With the rushing river drowning out most softer noises, the she-cat was able to creep up to the rodent without it noticing. But, she needed to be quick as she barely had any cover on the riverbank. So, bunching up the muscles in her leg, the she-cat leapt, crossing the last distance. The mouse tried to bolt, but wasn't able escape the thorn sharp claws of the blue lynx point she-cat. With a swift bite to the nek, the piercing shriek of the creature was cut short. For a moment Icemask narrowed her eyes, wiping the specks of blood from her muzzle with a soft paw. The alarmcry would've scared off any of the landprey nearby. Better start fishing then.

Spiderbite- RiverClan Warrior

It barely took Spiderbite’s attention span to fish- as he felt like he was snaring fish in his web before smacking them out of the water. A swift bite- they were gone. It was important they didn’t die from flopping around on the sandy edge. The black furred tom-cat was finished with his part in the hunting patrol- but he felt like he should at least try for some more since the border-patrol had already gone out. His paws itched against the smooth stones like ants weaving in them as he wanted to fling himself with a warcry into a clan battle.

Though he was sure of his abilities- he knew no one else would be and he had to accept that. Flicking his tail as he padded his way from camp- it only took him a few minutes to be on the rocky path again- water glimmering next to him. It was a bit too crisp for a swim in his general opinion, but none the less it was great fishing weather. The current wasn’t too strong on this side of the island- so he didn’t fear falling in and not being able to get out.

He absently danced and bounced, walking backwards and doing small flips on the rocks- careful of his balance. Spiderbite would walk on his hind legs and waves his paws around or walk himself in circles or bounce sideways in a forward direction. Spiderbite’s eccentricity amused him- even if it made little sense to his clan mates. The cry of a little mouse though- that was abnormal and he froze mid-step on his hind legs. Green eyes darted about only for a moment before he caught a small flash of the downy and rather poofy looking fur of his clan mate.

Rather assured that she had already scared the rest of the prey off- as if there was more mice on an island- he danced over to her cheerfully. “Icemaskkkk~ Icemaskkk~” He called, bouncing on all four paws. “Oh my lovely Icemask- how are you this fine wonderful crisp day? I must say you are quite rather lucky that you found a mouse on the island! I’ve only found five or six lately!” Spiderbite chatted whether she responded or not- not daunted at the fact that some might find it rude. “Good job on the mouse though.” He added distantly, his green eyes focused on the water that danced by them not even a few foxlengths away. "Hunting going well, m'dear?"

The fresh kill twitched a bit for a second, but after that it went completely limp. Slightly intrigued, Icemask kept her eyes on it for a moment while rubbing her paw around her muzzle slightly more. It wasn't that she had a distaste for bloodshed, the creamy she-cat just liked to keep her pelt clean. It always made her queasy to have the hairs clump together by whatever kind of filth. The she-cat gave a start though when the voice of a clanmate ripped through the calmness of the moment like a lightning bolt through the sky, calling her name. Icemask whipped her head around to pinpoint whom exactly was talking to her and sure enough, she was able to spot Spiderbite walking over to her in a rather odd way. She decided to pay no mind, it was quite common knowledge that Spiderbite had his own.. way of doing things*

Her ears twitching slightly, she endured the chattering of the rather talkative tom. Her eyes darted around for a second, looking around for a viable escape from this conversation. Clanmate or not, Icemask wasn't that talkative to cats she didn't speak so often. "Hunting was going great, yes," she replied a bit stiffly, indeed slightly daunted by his jovial way of talking. She followed his gaze for a moment before deciding that the rushing water wasn't really worth staring at, it wasn't like a fish would leap it, would it? Her tailtip twitched slightly. "What brought you here? Hunting as well?" She had a slight hunch the tom wasn't going to leave soon, so maybe it would be better to try and make at least some small talk.

Spiderbite- RiverClan Warrior

Spiderbite did have quite a ‘weird’ way of doing things- but to him it was subjectively normal. His weird walking meant little to him and only raised eyebrows with those who didn’t know him so well. So when Icemask looked positively like she wanted to flee- Spiderbite dismissed the sign immediately. Who wouldn’t want to be with a Spider? He was a great cat- he had no reason to think that no one wanted to be around him certainly! That would be just a downright travesty! Dancing to a song he could only hear- he twirled closer to the rather fluffy she-cat.

“Was? Are you giving up?” His whiskers twitched in amusement. “There’s plenty of fish and land to keep hunting on.” He informed as finally came to a stop- though his back leg kept tapping to some unknown beat. “You could say that, lovely Icemask.” Spiderbite claimed rather amused. “I love coming out here and seeing what you can come upon! Hunting is not my favorite activity of course- did you know on the coldest and calmest nights, you can feel like Silverpelt is being reflected in the waters?” He gestured behind him to the water with his head. “I feel like it’s the best place to talk to my mother and sister.” His green eyes turned thoughtful at the mention of his dead family- but not in sadness.

While other cats might cringe at his rather informal and casual talk of the dead- he thought his mother and sister were truly alive and quite happy to talk to him despite him not being a medicine cat. “But ah- you were never the personal sort with me- that might be strange to hear. They welcome you though.” Spiderbite’s lackadaisical tone meant nothing to the conversation or what he was saying, showing he didn’t particularly care if she was uncomfortable or not in hearing that. It was true- he was constantly reprimanded, but little if not all of the words went in one ear and out the other.

Hi everyone,
This announcement is being made with an extremely heavy heart, and we know it may not be a popular one. However, Alee and I have made the decision that we are going to be closing Chasing the Sun by the end of the month. Originally, we were going to wait till the end of the activity check before making the call either way, as no doubt some of you picked up from my introduction to the check itself. But, after seeing some of the most recent hiatuses and their updates, and talking with a few members who will not be continuing on the site, we’ve decided at this stage in time, it’s the right time to bring things to a close.

Chasing the Sun is a play-by-post roleplay based on the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. We are set in the original forest in an alternative universe from the books, where SkyClan were never forced from the forest and the characters we have known and loved have not existed. THUNDERCLAN VERSES BADGERS
Due to a change of high ranks that is to take place, this plot has been updated and modified. if you were originally involved, please make sure to check the thread and voice if you still want involvement as soon as possible! The Forest Prince is the the current thread leading into the start of this plot.

WIND/SHADOW VERSES ROGUES
Redstar, Rosestar and their fellow high ranks of WindClan and ShadowClan have met on the border of the clans and formed a truce, after it has become aware that a group of rogues has become a threat. Both leaders have addressed this issue in their clan meetings, with Rosestar setting the rule that until the rogues have been dealt with, cats are not to leave camp alone.

WINDCLAN - MEDICINE CAT PLOT
A significant change has taken place in the direction of this plot, and the main post has now been edited to reflect such. We are still looking for WindClan cats to be involved, so if you have a cat you’d like to have something happen to, places are still open.

SKYCLAN VERSES RIVERCLAN
With the border clash narrowly avoided by Pinestar’s intervention, steam has yet to ease, as the SkyClan patrol stand in camp to address the clan getting too ambitious. Meanwhile, with the change in leadership of RiverClan causing discomfort across the clan, there is no doubt that everyone is on edge. Another clash is imminent.
