A breeze pushed its way over the camp, the tall grass bending in time with the surges of the wind. Murkpaw was just making his way through the gorse around the camp, two field mice held in his jaws. His brown coat had a slight shine in the morning sun. The sun had only made about one fourth of its way across the sky, still a while away from sunhigh. He gave a brief glance towards the sky has he ventured deeper into the camp, heading for the fresh-kill pile. The tabby tom never particularly liked this time of day, though when he thought about it, he never really liked any time of day more than any other.
A small sigh pushed passed the apprentice's jaws as he put down one of the mice on the fresh-kill pile. He'd usually eat with his brothers, but they'd just been starting a hunting patrol as he got back into the camp, so he set his eyes to the rest of the camp, looking for someone else to sit with. He actually didn't mind not having his brothers around that much. While he loved his brothers quite a bit, he appreciated having time to spend with other cats. His brothers tended to take over any conversation when they were around, especially Blurrypaw. Not that Murkpaw actually cared when it happened. He was content to be the cat in the background every now and again.
After a couple of moments of glancing around, his bright amber eyes settled on a warrior not too far away from him. He'd noticed the warrior sitting alone a few times in the past, though it was always when he was busy with a chore or already eating with someone else. If memory served him right, which it usually did, the warrior's name was Merlincry. With the one mouse still in his jaws, Murkpaw approached the warrior, offering a smile as he neared. When he decided he was near enough, the apprentice put his mouse down gently so he could speak without being muffled. "Would you mind if I ate with you?"
