❊ hit 'em right between the eyes ❊
Energy was something Lioncloud had plenty of. But hunting got boring after a while, especially when all she could find were robins, pecking at the ground for worms after the recent rainfall. They were too predictable. All she had to do was wait around, in the branches above or behind a tree trunk, until the right moment to strike arrived. Well, she was tired of hunting and waiting. It got old, and it wasn’t her skillset anyways.
She had dropped the three robins on the fresh-kill pile in camp before heading out immediately. Sitting around camp didn’t interest the warrior either- she’d had enough of that when she was a kit, and there’d be plenty more time for it when she became an elder many moons from now. No, the warrior had different plans in mind.
Her steps were swift across the damp ground. She moved with a purpose toward a particular part of the territory, just south of the camp, a location that held a lot of memories. Lioncloud recognized it immediately as she approached- the trees were evenly spaced out, with a handful of lower branches, and plenty of brush lining the ground. It was a space her mentor liked to use for advanced battle training, as it had plenty of hiding places and advantages waiting to be used.
The she-cat huffed to herself slightly as she stood there. Canarypaw wouldn’t present too much of a challenge- I taught her those moves, after all, she thought with a smirk. Another warrior then, perhaps. If luck were on her side, someone would come along eventually.
She didn’t have to wait long. The recent rain masked the more potent scents, so when the smell of SkyClan on this wind grew stronger, she knew someone was nearby. Without waiting to see who it was, Lioncloud called out to them.
“Hey,” her voice was loud but her tone amiable. “Up for a sparring match? I’ll need someone to practice on, after all; trees don’t present much of a challenge. Neither do birds for that matter.” Her tail snaked back and forth behind her as she waited eagerly.
