a history of great depth and care is behind this feline
When Moth-heart became pregnant with her first and only litter of kits, securing herself a family was all that she cared about. She was a gentle soul, patient and loyal to her clan, but for a long time she had felt unhappy and lonely, having lost her small family very young in life. Worse still, little she did seemed to make her feel any better. She had always wanted to be a mother, to have kits of her own to nurture and dote over and love unconditionally, and a mate to stand by her side and grow old with. However, her timidity had kept her from forming many close relationships in her life, and no one appeared to love her that way. After a long time waiting, her foreboding loneliness an ever-present lump in her chest, she abandoned her dream of finding someone to stand by her side. Her want of kits grew desperate. It was not for love --therefore-- that she chose Darktail to be the father of her kits. He was available, and she wanted a family, that was all that seemed important. She knew of his ways,
Starclan blessed the young she-cat with two kits, a red-brown tabby tom she called Rushkit, and a pure black she-kit she deemed Nightkit. As would be a constant source of irony throughout their lives, Nightkit proved to be the larger, healthier kit throughout their days in the Nursery, bypassing her brother in all but strength of will. Their differences were inherent from the very beginning. Where Rushkit was rather independent, and avoided their mother's constant doting at all costs, Nightkit relished the attention, and developed a heavy dependence on Moth-heart.
as a final note, a bit more about Nightwhisker's appearance
A pure black she-cat with light green eyes. Nightwhisker has sleek fur, which has served her well as a Warrior of Riverclan, enabling her not to be weighed down too much by sodden fur while swimming. She is relatively tall, possessing long limbs and a long tail, but all-in-all she is no larger than the majority of other cats in the clan. Her whiskers are unusually long and prominent, perhaps an illusion of her pitch black pelt. Either way, they add to the meaning of her name, and she is quite proud of them. are you ready for a revolution?
