duskfang of thunderclan
duskfang is a cat of complex personality
First and foremost, Duskfang is a stoic cat, particularly for a female. Many stereotype females as hyperemotional things, and Duskfang is perhaps an exception to the rule. Her face rarely ever changes, and there always seems to be an iron curtain of indifference on her face, cool and unbreakable. Similarly, she is always calm and take-charge. She has no issues with assuming a leadership role, and she rarely ever seems uncertain of herself when in the public eye. Leadership seems to come naturally to her, and one might suspect ambition to be leader one day lurking in her heart of hearts.Indeed, Duskfang seems to have it all together, organized and formal if not a little stiff, socially. Though, there's a kink - 'seems'. Duskfang is nowhere near the perfectly duty-bound cat she appears to be. She's put on the mask of such a "perfect" warrior for so long that it's difficult to tear herself away from it. Fake it until you make it is her motto in life; if others believe you're in control, then you have to be. Simple as that, yes?
Yet, there is no doubt that Duskfang is a focused cat. She does most things with purpose, and she knows much of what she is going to do in the day before sunhigh. She rarely does nonsensical actions such as play or sit around talking. She tends to be brisk and business-like in her normal interactions with Clanmates, though her compliments are not easily given. She gives credit where it is due, though she rarely gives that to herself.
Duskfang is a talented diplomat, and while she is no stranger to combat, she'd much rather be diffusing situations than begin a heated battle over them. She has, however, an unfortunate tendency to treat others as if they're below her. Despite not being a particular old warrior herself, she carries an instinctive air of cool supremacy with her that happens to be part of her act. She doesn't look down on cats, per se, but she's not the friendliest feline around.
She is a stickler for rules, and sticks to the warrior code like it's a second skin. Duskfang is strict and quick to boss others around, particularly if she believes that the Clan's wellbeing ultimately depends on it. However, while Duskfang can seem rude and authoritative, she has a strong sense of justice and is brave enough to speak out to defend herself as well as other cats. Despite her belief in the warrior code, she knows that it cannot be purely black and white, and must be seen in shades of gray to be followed to the best of its ability.
It is difficult to get close to a cat like Duskfang. She lives her life dedicated to her Clan, and seems to spend every living moment working. To say that she doesn't know the meaning of 'fun' would be an understatement. Relaxing is not an available activity for this cat; she must be in motion at all times in order to feel accomplished, and she is always striving to better herself. As such, it is very hard to try to reach out to her. Duskfang believes in the camaraderie of a Clan, but does not have many friends. Being respected is not the same as having close relationships.
However, under that cool, indifferent attitude is an awkward cat scared of failing at what she believes she was born to do. Bearing the weight of a deceased family, Duskfang has sworn to be the best warrior she can possibly be - and she doesn't make promises lightly. Indeed, the pacts she makes are made in steel, and it is almost impossible to break them. Her devotion is strong, and possibly only matched by her gentleness under the uncertainty. She loves deeply and cares deeply, and though that love is never given recklessly, Duskfang is terribly scared of being broken by it.
She also suffers from a lack of emotion - that is, the lack of being able to communicate those emotions. Duskfang is a stoic cat, remember, and as such doesn't divulge those emotions willingly or even gracefully when pressed. She has a tendency to keep her emotions bottled up until the breaking point, of which may present itself in her clawing the bark off some unfortunate tree or lying dormant in the forest for a long time to heal. There is no doubting, however, that under her carefully constructed mask, there are strong and true feelings.
Above all, Duskfang is loyal to the core, whether that be to her Clan or to the truth. She can be stubborn and rude, as well as commanding and haughty, but under that dusky exterior rests a heart of gold that has a firm sense of right and wrong. Duskfang is a loyal ally and even better friend, if not awkward. She'll defend her Clan and friends with her life, so long as she knows it to be right and necessary.

a history of great depth and care is behind this feline
Dusk-kit was born among two other kits, a litter of three in all to cats Brackenfoot and Eagleclaw. Both were incredibly proud parents - but the litter was born in the midst of leaf-bare. The cold weather and harsh snows, even in the densely forested ThunderClan territory, were notorious for murdering cats with no difference as to their age, warrior and queen alike. Her father was the first to die; Eagleclaw fell victim to a bout of greencough that shook the camp to its very roots, and Brackenfoot became stricken with the possibility that her whole family would perish before her eyes. She began to tell her kits night and day that it was important, above all else, to be great warriors - Eagleclaw was one of their best warriors, she'd always say, and he'd been ripped away from her by the cold winds, so the kits needed to be at their very strongest.
Brackenfoot soon fell ill herself, but stubbornly fought and clung to her kits. Tawnykit and Whitekit, already weak and too young to survive the winter, were sickened by the plague that their mother carried, and perished. Torn apart with grief and too depressed to continue making milk for her last surviving kit, she too died, but not before whispering feebly to her last, and strongest, daughter. "Make your father and I proud. We'll always be watching you from StarClan."
Perhaps those words should have been encouragement; Dusk-kit, traumatized by so much death in her family at a young age, made them into a twisted vow that she had to keep above all else.
