MAVERICK
look before me and see the beauty of these looks
if you were to look upon maverick, chances are you would think she was ready to drop. clinging to her bones is very little fat, and the muscle that wraps itself around her skeleton are more or less for show. there is not a lot to the poor she-cat, and she looks on the verge of starvation. due to some unknown illness that she has contracted since escaping from her two-legs, she has a hard time keeping any weight on. she eats relatively normally, but her body has difficulties absorbing the nutrients. her ribs are visible through her pelt, and so are her hips. her back is humped about two inches up from her haunches, making it look excruciatingly painful to walk. her legs are thin, ending in tiny paws that house her gnarled, yellow stained claws that never seem to want to sheathe properly. however, out of everything on mavericks body, probably the most prominent oddity is the she-cats tail. perhaps a factor in her unsteady gait, maverick only has about one quarter of her tail left.
now, covering her frame is what was once a rich, beautiful tortoiseshell pelt. the colours are now muted, long since dulled by lack of nourishment and mavericks own disregard for hygiene. patches in her pelt, particularly around her hips, mimic the appearance of mange, though she does not have it. her hind quarters are constantly riddled with ticks and fleas, and chewing to rid the itch has caused bald spots. around her face, the colours are slightly darker than the rest of her body, but it constantly broken up by ugly white scars. one scar in particular stretches from above her left eye, to just under right eye. luckily for the she-cat, it has not caused any impairment in her vision. the mangy fur on her head and face make her look extremely gaunt, and her eyes appear abnormally large due to how sunken her face has become. perhaps the only real sign that the she-cat is still a force to be reckoned with is the unwavering brightness in her eyes. large, and amber coloured, they tell her story, and reveal her bloodlust.
