Hiya! Well, since the last few days have seen quite a lot of Pokèmon chat since the announcement of Pokèmon Sun and Moon, and my own interest perking again since I've picked my 3DS back up, I thought it would be a fun idea to make a thread about the one thing every Pokèmon fanatic desires: Shiny Pokèmon. For those who don't know what I'm talking about, Shiny Pokèmon are Pokèmon that are differently colored than most Pokèmon. For example: a regular Charizard is orange, while a Shiny Charizard is black! (It's super cool!)
Shiny Pokèmon are also SUPER rare - in previous games, there was about only a 1/8192 chance of finding one, and before Gen IV all you could do was run around and hope you were lucky, breed for a Shiny Pokèmon, or content yourself with particular Shiny Pokèmon that appeared in the game as a plot point - such as the Red Gyarados in Gold & Silver and their remakes, HeartGold & SoulSilver. With the release of Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, the Pokè Radar came into play - only obtainable at the end of the game, using this device you could build a 'chain' - meaning after encountering 40 Pokèmon of the SAME species you increased your chance of finding a Shiny Pokèmon of the chained species from 1/8192 to 1/200. The next games, Black & White and Black 2 & White 2, were sans this device, but had particular Shiny P as a plot point, such as a Shiny Haxorus - a commonly desired Shiny - and a Shiny Gible or Shiny Dratini depending on which Version you played. Also introduced was the Shiny Charm, another item received after the end of the game, which increased the chance of finding a Shiny Pokèmon from 1/8192 to 1/2731. A tripled chance but still rare.
Starting with X & Y however, Shiny Pokèmon are now much easier to find! This generation of games has halved the chance of finding a Shiny Pokèmon from 1/8192 to 1/4096 and now allows players to have BOTH the Shiny Charm and Pokè Radar, with the latter now having the added effect of fast playing music, which is a random speeding up of the chaining music that signals a sudden 1/200 chance of finding a Shiny Pokèmon no matter how far in the chain you are. With these methods, as well as breeding and the new Friend Safaris which give you a 1/512 of finding a Shiny Pokèmon and the introduction of the consecutive fishing method and hordes, which let you encounter 5 Pokèmon at a time and therefore gives you 5 times the chance of finding a Shiny Pokèmon, finding a Shiny Pokèmon is easier than ever!
So here is where we, the dedicated Shiny Hunters, people who seek Shiny Pokèmon, can post up our successes and current targets. I know I'm not the only one out there who Shinh Hunts after all. xD Post a list of your finds here - which game they were on, what species they are, and your method of discovering it. Was it by chance? Were you actively hunting it with the Pokè Radar or fishing for it? Or even if you used an Action Replay for it, post it here! Like I said before, before X & Y it was ridiculously hard to find a Shiny Pokèmon, and even now some are just not obtainable without an Action Replay. I don't judge! x3 As well, if you're seeking any Shiny Pokèmon right now, let us know that too! We'll be rooting for you!
I'll start with my successes from my copy of Pokèmon X. I have several other games but I either haven't touched them or played them in a long time so I've forgotten what Shiny Pokèmon (if any) are on there. ^_^;
