Past Audition Biographies

SWANFLOWER was given the prefix SWAN for their white fur. They have the suffix FLOWER for their tendency to act motherly and delicate looks.

APPEARANCE

In a word? perfect. Of course, that word is from her own choosing and opinion. To Swanflower, there is no cat that exemplifies perfection as she does. From her pink nose, to the tip of her sleek tail, she is absolutely stunning. For those that are not privy to her thoughts, and thank StarClan she doesn't choose to enlighten you, she's an average looking cat. Not too large, not too small, and thankfully without any deformities. She's not the most muscular of ThunderClan cats, having preferred a path that had less potential to require her to make someone else bleed. After all, red is so difficult to get out of white fur. Which is the color of her fur, a snowy white color, without a blemish or marking otherwise. A pair of green eyes are what she's inherited from her father, and she likes to think they glimmer and shine. Someone who isn't viewing the world through her eyes might note their nothing incredibly special about them.

Muscularity wise, she's actually not as masculine as some cats of her Clan. Unlike some medicine cats who chose the warrior way of life before finding their calling, she has never enjoyed training or building up the muscle required for proper fighting. She's not fat, no cat of any Clan can have claim to that title without suspicion, she's merely not a walking block of muscle. She'll leave all the fighting to those who prefer it, who are good at it. She's there to patch them up when they don't dodge quick enough, is all. In a fight, Swanflower is better at avoiding attacks than delivering them. She'd never admit it, but the idea of fighting another cat terrifies her. The normal confident attitude she wears like a cloak, vanishes in an instant. Her light and graceful movements, which she favors above all else, vanishes in the blink of an eye.

That body-language is anyone's key to Swanflower She's an open book when it comes to being read. Not that this cat particularly tries to hide it. Happy? Easy. Angry? Blatant. Scared? One glance and you can tell. She tends to speak with her entire figure, rather than just her mouth. Those who think that is a weakness, have obviously never played the 'scared molly' role in their lives. Oh yes, Swanflower knows she's easy to read. Which is why she's made a point to attempt to capitalize upon it, or at least turn it into more of strength rather than a shameful weakness.


PERSONALITY
Swanflower is a vain creature. There is no excusing that, and there is absolutely no ignoring it. Not that Swanflower would have it any other way, because if anything else she's honest. Not in a cruel way, no, but in a way that implies that lying is perhaps one of the ugliest things one can do. Little white-lies, small things meant to comfort others, she isn't fond of but sees need for. Lies to further yourself or your loved-ones? No. Lies destroy, they curdle relationships and lives and there are no redeeming aspects of such an act. Lying by omission though? Well, that's more complicated now isn't it? Yes, yes it is. As long as no one finds out, Swanflower is more than willing to let you dig yourself deeper into a hole by omission. The fact that she might as well be buried in the hole she's proverbially dug herself is not lost on her in the slightest. It would probably do one well not to mention that to her though. Swanflower does so hate having her flaws pointed out to her. Mostly likely because she's a private sort of cat.

Yes, she's easy to read, and yes, she does little to attempt to hide her emotions from others. However, both those things are a far, far cry from blatantly telling everyone about every tiny thought that flits through her head. What she thinks of your stupid decisions are hers to think until she decides to tell you. Prying will get you nothing but disdain and annoyance at best. Those who try, are rather low in her view of the world. Those however, who wait however, just might be privy to some rather interesting gossip. Swanflower would say that she doesn't partake in gossiping, and those that don't remember every cat has a pair of sharp ears are simply asking her to remember certain things. If she passes those things along to someone who has enough sense to simply ask, well, no one asked her not to. Swanflower, one might note, is very good at justifying the things she does for herself and for others. Swanflower doesn't want to be known as a soft-hearted cat or a cruel, cold, bitter one. She'd rather be known as their medicine cat and nothing else. If she wants to do things for her Clan-mates, it's her business how and why she does them. The only cats she has to answer to is Falconstar and StarClan themselves.

This thought process has led to a regal bearing that she's rather proud of having honed. Some might see it as superior or outright obnoxious, but again,Swanflower tends not to put much stock in what others have to say about herself. Mostly because no one knows her better than herself. She knows her dislikes, pet-peeves, thank you very much. Swanflower will not thank you for sticking your nose where it blatantly isn't wanted. Her temper, which might be implied, is actually not something that burns hot. No, Swanflower's anger is as cold as a leaf-bare winter. She won't blister you with a retort, but she'll none the less make sure that you what you said or did was wrong. Mostly, she'll either stare another down, or perhaps, deliver a lecture. She's rather gifted in the way of words, and she does so hate to not use them. Claws and teeth are for those who can't seem to realize that violence all ends where it starts; in words. Swanflower might have something to say about everything and everyone, but by no means does she do it to demoralize or belittle. Usually, at least, there are always special exceptions.

Regal, vain, a little domineering, Swanflower does have her drawbacks. However, for her, the idea of being a mother was realized. It just wasn't realized in the manner which she would have preferred it when she was younger. Swanflower, the older she becomes, the more she realizes something; almost every cat in the camp is like a kit. Even those older than herself. They wander into situations in which they have no reason to wander into, and then they choose the most violent, destructive path out of the mess. Then, they come crying to her when they end up bleeding and hurt. Swanflower treat them, lectures them, and lets them back out into the world knowing they'll only make slightly different mistakes. It's all rather endearing and sweet. Which of course, when someone dies, it breaks a little more of her. That though, is her business and no one else's.

HISTORY

KIT

Swankit was the oldest kit born in her litter. Startlingly without any dark markings that touched her three brothers. She was the spitting image of her father. The massive white tom loved his little daughter, the loudest of the four mewling bundles. After her came Ashkit, Whitekit, and Silverkit. The three brothers all bore some of their mother's gray-tabby markings, and all was good for this little family. From the moment their eyes opened, their ears came to hear, and they began to stagger about, Swankit was the dominate personality. As she marched around the nursery, her three brothers were hard-pressed to keep after her. More than one queen who hiss in irritation as Swankit blundered into their nest, over the queens themselves, and wherever she liked. Dappledfeather was hard pressed to keep all four kits in a row, often frazzled until Iceheart appeared to help wrangle his new family.

Like any daughter, Swankit was quite smitten by her father. He, was likewise adoring of her. When he visited, sprawled out before the nursery, all four kits clambering over him, he could rumble a purring laugh. Swankit would place herself between his front legs, content as he groomed her gently. Her father was as snow colored as she was, and though she had her mother's green eyes, Swankit modeled herself after him instead. Ashkit, Whitekit, and Silverkit would get their own time with their father, learning basic moves and earning his praise as any kits are want to do. Swankit loved her brothers, and even as a young kit worked to keep them in line. Some listened better,such as Ashkit, who was happy to please her. Silverkit and her butted heads the most, while Whitekit tried to mediate.

The older the three got, the more shrill and spitting the arguments became. More than once, Silverkit and Swankit had to be separated across the nursery. For their mother, it was a chaotic time. Four rapidly growing kits, two of whom seemed to be constantly at each other's throats, and a mate who was bound by warrior duties more than his bond to her. Not that she blamed him for that. Dappledfeather knew what she was getting into the moment she'd agreed that they could try for kits. She'd always wanted them, she just hadn't taken into account the chaos of them growing up quite so quickly. Six moons was bearing down on the large family, and the sooner it passed, the sooner everyone could be some approximation of happy.

Swankit, for her part in the entire matter between herself and Silverkit, began to roam farther from the nursery. Well, alright, she began to follow one of the other Queens about, one who was pregnant at the time. The queen didn't mind, amused by the white kit's curiosity. Whenever she went to visit Blueberry, Swankit was just a whisker's length behind her. She'd watch with wide green eyes, taking in everything. A few times the medicine cat even offered to let her feel the kits moving or try and guess how many there were. Swankit loved every moment of it. It's fair to say that there are those who know what they're to do in life. Swankit, for a majority of her youth, firmly saw herself as a mother. A nest full of small fluffy kits? Yes please! No one corrected her, aside from a few bland reminders that she still had to complete warrior training. These reminders were met with a dismissive stare or a muttered agreement. Only, things didn't turn out that way at all.

APPRENTICE

The day that the four siblings were to be made apprentices, they were groomed to an inch of their lives. Swankit had helped their mother, resolutely grooming Ashkit, until even his stubborn fur laid flat in compliance. They'd sat with their parents, both proud enough that it was probably obnoxious to be around them for any length of time. When Applestar called them forward, Swankit could only stare in impatience as her brothers went first. Finally, as Silverpaw padded out of the way to sit next to his mentor, the leader called Swankit's name. Chin raised, and with great seriousness, she had stepped forward. The leader had regarded her with something akin to amusement, before scanning the rest of the Clan. The lull in the naming ceremony had made her heart race, and stare worriedly at the leader. Finally though, Applestar seemed to decide that she'd put the young kit through enough distress, calling out a single name for her mentor.

Blueberry.

Swanpaw could only go through the motions of accepting the assignment. Her mind stewed in something between anger and delight. Blueberry had merely purred his amusement, and urged her to follow him. Swanpaw did, shooting a few looks over her shoulder at her parents, and her brothers. Even Silverpaw looked confused as to why their sister wasn't joining them. The first night as an apprentice, she spent quiet and withdrawn. Blueberry gave her the space, letting her come to terms with it at her own pace. The blue-grey tom could remember his own apprenticeship well enough. The following moons would be a test in patience and willingness to understand and cooperate.

The pair didn't clash, so much as it was a learning curve. Swanpaw questioned everything, from why to how, and nit-picked over the smallest of things. More often than once the older tom would chastise her for trying to re-arrange the herbs and how they were stored. The first moon, Swanpaw took her time, finding no reason to hurry or scurry. That tested Blueberry's patience more than anything. Questions he could handle. Challenges in personality were fine. Dragging one's paws because they were sulking? Unacceptable. Luckily for everyone involved, the entire situation was softened by the arrival of Honeyfur's kits. Swanpaw had been anxious to meet the little ones, and to see what might await her in the future.

Only, the experience destroyed her desire for ever wanting kits herself. The screaming, the wailing, the utter mess of it all irritated and horrified her. All of that commotion for three tiny little beans? Great StarClan, NO. Later, Blueberry would tell the story, gently in a teasing manner, about how Swankit had yowled at Honeyfur to 'bite the stick or she'd muffle her herself!' after having the Queen scream in her face in pain. Blueberry had been proud though, amused and proud. Even if Swanpaw had aggressively groomed herself, then him, muttering all the while under her breath about cats who were ungrateful.

For ten moons she bore the name 'Swanpaw'. In that time, she'd seen kits born, apprentices made, and of course, warriors made. Her own brothers became Silverclaw, Ashspot, and Whitefoot in that time. While she and Silverclaw never made 'peace' in the truest sense of the word, they weren't vile enemies. It was during one visit to Highstones during the quarter moon that it happened. Blueberry declared that he would have Swanpaw become a full medicine cat, and work along side him instead of as an apprentice. Swanpaw could only blink stupidly at her mentor. The tom announced her to be Swanflower, for her beauty and her tendency to bully everyone with her mothering.

Swanflower raised her chin and accepted it all in stride.


MEDICINE CAT

After her naming ceremony, she and Blueberry worked together as a well-oiled unit for several moons. All seemed to be going well for ThunderClan, two healthy medicine cats, a powerful leader, and a health that seemed to be endless for the Clan as a whole. Them, Blueberry, in all his infinite wisdom, dropped a metaphorical bomb on Swanflower. He was leaving the position of Medicine cat to her. He had been a young warrior when he'd been pegged to be a Medicine cat, and so he'd gone willingly. However, he'd done his duty and trained her to take his place, and now he could return to the life that had called him as a kit. Swanflower reacted with all the grace one could expect, which was with none at all. The white molly spat and hissed insults, her fury and distress almost a physical thing. The gray tom endured it, letting her get it out of her system. It was when the ex-medicine cat walked away, that Swanflower felt her heart break.

The fact that she had loved, as idiotic as it was, her mentor, shook her foundation. Alas, she wasn't granted much time to recover. A badger had been seen on the borders between ThunderClan and SkyClan. Applestar led a group of her warriors to meet Pinestar to deal with the beast. When they returned, they came with a badly wounded leader, but victorious. Swanflower patched up Applestar as best she could, and prayed to StarClan that they would see her healed. Apparently, StarClan liked spitting in her face, because instead of health, disease was their answer. To this disease, Swanflower lost sleep, hope, her father, brother, and Leader. It seemed that no matter what she tried, nothing could destroy the illness.

The day Applestar lost her last life, Swanflower considered telling Blueberry he'd made the right choice in walking away. Death, illness, pain, it was the price she paid to aid in birth and healing. Having to sit beside her father and watch as he stopped breathing, and to have to tell her mother. To see Silverclaw slowly fall victim as well, and know that she could not stop it, it made her hard. To be honest, it made her angry. Only with the return of New Leaf, did anything change. Falconstar became their leader, and a message from StarClan informed her that there was indeed an apprentice out there for her. Swanflower learned that relief had a taste.
