Nightfrost of RiverClan
Nightfrost is a cat of complex personality
Nightfrost has never been the kind of girl to sit back and watch the men do all the work. She is strong and independent, but doesn't mind the few cats who actually work up the nerve to talk to her once in a while. She can be a wall flower at times, but isn't afraid to get down to business, even if it means getting dirty. She's a hard worker, even though it might take some time to see that side of her since she enjoys laying around and sleeping more than breathing. Be warned, though. She may look like a big teddy bear, but she's naturally fierce. Now more calculating in her more senior years, Nightfrost is attempting to be a bit more caring than she had been. She thinks before she speaks and holds elders in high regard. She doesn't necessarily think about other feelings unless they are her friends', more like she thinks about what she can do and whether or not she can take a fight at that moment. She's still a hard worker, but values time spent with friends.
In general, Nightfrost is indifferent and cold with her default setting being any level from annoyed to aggravated. She doesn't do well around young kits, which actually tend to frighten her because they're so fragile. She also hates being hounded by the little monsters, so she tends to avoid the nursery all together. She also hates arrogant and vain cats, which makes her a very hard cat to pair with an apprentice.

a history of great depth and care is behind this feline
The circumstances of Nightkit's birth were not ideal. The famine that the clans were facing took it's tole on her mother's body, putting all the energy it had to create just one healthy kit. Shortly after kitting, Cloverstep passed away, leaving Nightkit in the care of her aunt, Cinderfoot. She soon had a playmate, for only a few days later, Cinderfoot gave birth to Nightkit's cousins, Shadekit and Cloverkit. The three became inseparable. The kits became apprentices together and often requested to be trained together. It was during one of these training adventures that they stumbled upon something they were not meant to. It was a boisterous argument between their fathers held in a clearing on the outskirts of RiverClan territory. The apprentices stayed in the water, making sure to keep silent. Their mentors were waiting for them to get back with their prey, but that was far from their minds.
Smokeblaze was defending himself against accusations from Reedsplash. He was convinced that Cinderfoot had betrayed him and had been consorting with her sister's mate, resulting in a pair of litters days apart and all with attributes similar to Smokeblaze. The tom denied it fervently, but before Reedsplash could retort, a loud series of yowls stopped their argument. The apprentices recognized their mentor's calls and swam quietly back to the training ground, each picking up a pathetic looking minnow to make it look like they had been at least somewhat successful.
From then on, Nightpaw's mentor was extremely harsh on her. Darkstone was a tough mentor who expected excellence and nothing else. With her aging father's tense glances at the younger Reedsplash, Nightpaw knew that the younger warrior harbored intense hostility toward Smokeblaze. He only lacked the time to strike- something Nightpaw intended to prevent.
Moons later, just before they became warriors, the trio stumbled upon another argument. This time, Reedsplash was less kind. He was attacking Smokeblaze outright. It wasn't a full-on fight because Smokeblaze had yet to commit to attacking a fellow clan member. It was Nightpaw who stepped up to defend her father, no longer viewing the enemy tom as kin let alone fellow clanmate.
She had no hesitation and Darkstone had trained her well. She held her own, expertly, calmly maneuvering around the rage-blind warrior to inflict real damage. Halfway through the fight, Cloverpaw had seen enough. She interrupted the two, getting between them in mid fight- a mistake that would take her life. Nightpaw's claws may have raked her shoulder, but it was Reedsplash's claws that slashed her throat open. He'd been aiming for Nightpaw's.
Shaken with grief and rage, Shadepaw bolted forward and, in Reedsplash's shocked state, clawed an entire half of his face and demanded that he leave the clan for killing his own kit. Reedsplash, now shaken from his horror, declared that he had no kits, but fled just the same, knowing that he would be publically humiliated before being exiled anyway.
As the life drained from the apprentice, the three cats declared her name to be Cloverheart, despite the absence of the Clan leader and ceremony. The clan might remember her as Cloverpaw, but in their hearts, she was a warrior who had bravely pitted herself between her clanmates. That night, after hearing the story, the clan leader declared the two remaining apprentices to be warriors and gave them the names Nightfrost, for her cold demeanor in battle, and Shadecloud, for his calm head in tense situations.
They held vigil for Cloverheart that night and buried her with her mother and father, Smokeblaze. The warrior secretly confirmed Reedsplash's accusations to them during their vigil. He revealed to them Reedsplash's hostile treatment of Cinderfoot and that both sisters had come to him for comfort. In truth, the pair were half-siblings. In truth, this neither shocked nor infuriated Shadecloud. He was happy find that he wasn't related to a traitor and the killer of his sister. However, this news didn't change Nightfrost's demeanor at all.
Nightfrost was angry with herself for not protecting Cloverheart. She should have seen her coming and warned her off. She should have killed Reedsplash herself. Why hadn't she? In secret, she requested that Darkstone continue her training. She wanted to be the best warrior, the best fighter. She wanted to find Reedsplash one day and make sure he received the justice he deserved.
Seasons later, long after Darkstone had passed away, Nightfrost was on one of her own voluntary solo patrols of the territory. At the very edge of the territory she caught a familiar scent. It was faint at first, but then the wind shifted. Reedsplash had returned! Nightfrost licked her lips and followed the trail without looking back to the clan. A far off storm had gained on her by the time she found him cowering in a hollowed log.
She yowled to announce her presence, but gave no further warning than that. She attacked Reedsplash outright, dragging him out of the log by his scruff and throwing him before her. She gave him one chance to defend himself, to keep the fight interesting, not because he deserved to have a chance. Somewhere in that chance, he sliced the area around her eye and tore open her hind leg, damaging veins and nerves. Pausing only to shift her weight, Nightfrost went in for the kill, exactly as he had killed Cloverheart.
Nightfrost returned to the camp bleeding, but victorious. She flat out lied to everyone except Shadecloud, Smokeblaze, and Cinderfoot. She had killed a fox, nothing more. Shadecloud, however, now knew that his sister had been avenged. Cinderfoot, upon hearing the words, sighed with relief. That night, she died peacefully in her sleep, having been infected with greencaugh. Smokeblaze retired to the elder's den.
