LEGEND
"Bearclaw's words" | Bearclaw's thoughts | " |
The dawn light gave the atmosphere a hue color of reds and yellows. Bearclaw ate a vole, it was stingy and cold, frost on its fur coat. None of it warmed his blood but the meat put food into his stomach and the extra chewing helped him wake that much faster. Not that he needed it. The morning was chilly but it was typical for newleaf. Newleaf mornings are usually cold and when the season starts through the first moon and a half there will be frost. Puddles would be frozen of a thin layer of ice though it would never be cold enough to freeze the river surface.
Once he was finished the vole he stood up and stretched his muscular large body. He stretched his forelegs and the toes first, unsheathing his claws to dig into the earth. Relief flowed in his forelimbs and stood up, then stretched his forelegs and doing the same with the toes and claws. Bearclaw gave a like shake of his thick shaggy pelt and turned to the camp entrance. Several warriors were already up, some of which went to the apprentice den to wake their apprentices and head off to training. Bearclaw ignored the ache. He once had an apprentice... but ShadowClan took her away from him because Swallowpaw's parents didn't want her to be trained by a Half-Clan cat. He hadn't have a new apprentice yet but he hoped if he proved himself enough and was patient Falconstar will give him an apprentice. Bearclaw likes mentoring young cats.
Bearclaw dipped his head to several of his Clanmates and said hello before going in the gorse tunnel. With a few good leaps he was over the ravine and into the forest. He sniffed the chilly air as the sun finally peaked its head out of the horizon and was slowly coming out. The forest too was full of a light layer of frost. As he padded through the undergrowth, the bush branches stroked his fur and the frost from them stuck to his coat. With his body heat the frost quickly melted and made his pelt wet. Bearclaw entered a small clearing and looked at his pelt... the top layer was wet. He could feel small drops making their way deeper into his pelt, trying desperately to reach his skin.
Lightly, Bearclaw gave himself a shake and as he did so water droplets flew in the air. He continued on until he was close to Sunningrocks. He was so close to the river, Bearclaw could hear the river current. Bearclaw sniffed the air again and detected mouse. Honestly he doesn't know why he decided to hunt today. He was not a very good hunter but if he could bring back some prey it would definitely help his case. Though he knew that he proved himself with fighting the badgers, there were still some looks of distrust. Bearclaw is determined to prove his loyalties no matter how long it takes or how hard he has to try and go to do it.
