It was so many moons ago, Owlpelt didn't know why he still thought about it because there was no need for it to be circling through his mind like it was. It was over and done with, him and Lottie were over and done with. They'd been in love and he had ended it. Yet he still couldn't help being in love with her. He couldn't help letting his mind go straying back to her whenever he wasn't doing his duties. Him and her had been so happy with eachother and whenever it came to them separating in the morning, they had looked at eachother so sadly. Looking back, it probably hadn't been true love. It still hurt though. No longer did Owlpelt love her, no, but he had broken her heart in a terrible way. His parents had both said it was fine because he couldn't help who they fell in love with but Owlpelt wasn't sure he agreed. If he told Rosestar, would she be so accepting of the fact that one of her so-called loyal warriors had broken rules when he was eighteen moons old until he was twenty-two moons old? It was making his head hurt and he had to go out of camp.
Owlpelt looked around at the territory, though he couldn't see much because it was dark. All he could see was the brightly shining moon overhead and every so often the shape of an owl in the sky as it hunted for prey. Once he and Lottie would have laughed and said they could probably catch it if they worked as a team. They never tried though. Never would they want to get near them claws unless they truly had to. They once laughed about how they might be able to defeat five badgers at a time. Yet again, it was something they were not likely to attempt. It was just them joking and having a bit of fun. Owlpelt didn't think he'd find conversations like that funny anymore. It would remind him of the cream-coloured fine who'd stolen his heart, who he could have possibly been mates and had a family with. If only she'd joined ShadowClan. Why did I fall for her? he thought to himself sadly, finally realising that his paws were aching and deciding that he should find somewhere to sit down for a while.
When he did, he kept his eyes upon his paws until eventually they closed. He was tired and he could barely keep them open. He perhaps wouldn't find what he and Lottie had had so bad if more people knew of it and he knew they forgave him. Who was to say they even would though? He could get exiled for it. No!
