Sandfeather moved through the forest, her hind legs dragging unceremoniously behind her as she went. She had lived with her injury for long enough to know how to deal with it, and usually the best option was to just rely on her front paws. After all, they had grown stronger over the moons, and she could not move through the woods without her hind legs. She may have to take breaks, but it was imperative that she was able to get around as a medicine cat. What kind of healer would she be without any herbs? She was leaving a trail of cleared leaves as she went, her body laying down a road of dirt. She was just glad that it was dry today. She would go out in the mud with no issue, but she always preferred to stay dry. Why get wet when you could leave it to the RiverClanners? She just didn't understand why they would ever want that life, but she could respect others without understanding them. As for her, she was perfectly fine staying on dry land.
She had her nose turned up and her mouth parted as she smelled for the herb she was searching for. She had been starting to run low on dock for a few days now, and it was so multipurpose in her opinion that she just needed to have it around. Especially if a battle broke out, she needed to make sure she always had some of it on hand for less serious wounds and scratches. The tangy smell was very distinct, and she found a patch quickly and easily. The she-cat got to work plucking the leaves out of the ground, making sure that she did not puncture them with her teeth. They hardly tasted good by even her own standards, but the taste of herbs were always comforting to Sandfeather. They reminded her of her time spend with Blueberry.
Once she had a nice quantity of dock leaves, she turned around to head back to camp in order to put them with her other herbs. She heard a noise and froze. Was that another cat? She couldn't smell anything but the tangy dock that was nearly stuck up her nose. Surely, it had to be someone from ThunderClan. And even if it wasn't, they wouldn't attack a medicine cat, would they? She tried not to let her fur rise, but her scruff started to fluff up in unease. "Hello?" She mumbled, trying to speak audibly while keeping all of the dock in her mouth.
