Well, he was late, so what? He’d still reached the clearing in time to join in the crowd with cheering for the four new apprentices. What a future they had to look forward to, mousebile and den cleaning. How wonderful. Amusement brimmed in the tabby’s bright eyes as he sat himself down at the back of the crowd, tail flicking aimlessly behind him and paws immediately setting to pawing absently at the ground, his ears forward and attention on his brother, standing proud on the Thorn branch ahead of them. Despite the fact he wasn’t the best cat to tell things to, he had a feeling of what the leader might have to speak about next.
Stagstrider’s jaws parted in a loud yawn, his ears flattening briefly before pricking straight once again, whiskers twitching at the words of rogues. Right, gathering news he supposed. Whatever, they wondered through all the time, ShadowClan and windClan usually worked themselves up over a bee crossing the border. A small chuckle rumbled in the tom’s chest at the thought. Then, what he was expecting came. “I call for your thoughts and ideas. Should we look to expand our borders, and if so, in what direction? Or do you see our growth in an alternative way? I wish to hear your voices on the matter.”
He couldn’t say he knew the thoughts his brother had there and then. He didn’t give anything away in his request for options. Yet, it seemed like the clan had their own idea of where they wanted extra territory from. "Pinestar, I've heard you mention the river before. There are certainly other places that would provide well, though the river is the most reliable source of prey. Until it freezes, at least." Fawnfur’s voice, joined soon by Whitewhisker’s of more ambition rung out, and then clan seemed to attach to the idea as though it was what the leader himself had said. What a load of loud-mouths. Stagstrider shook his head as Spiderfang spoke up, also in agreement for the river and something about destiny, pah.
The tabby straightened himself a little, amusement still glowing in his eyes. “Boy, you lot sure do lock onto one concept and only think of that, don’t cha?” he called out, tail flicking behind him a few times as he scanned the crowd. “I agree we need more turf, for the better of all of us. But what ‘bout the forest further down the river still on this side where the twolegs ain’t? Or how about givin’ ThunderClan a little nudge for a bit more land, Falconstar’s probably more likely to talk than ever.” Not that he could say the river was a bad option, but it wasn’t their only one. “Come on, think a little bit outside that very first idea, hey? Even if the baby warriors have a good point.” He looked to Fawnfur and Whitewhisker and gave them a toothy grin.
“I say we do some scouting of beyond all clan borders, see if we can do something that way, as awesome as a bit of the river would be to have.” He rocked back, and reaching up to give his ear a scratch. It didn’t feel right to not end his little speech with a joke, but, whatever. These cats weren’t creative enough there and then to appreciate humour.

tagged ,, talks to everyone, but particularly alee with whitewhisker and jacey with fawnfur

notes ,, just a reminder pinestar hasn't said a word about the river and taking it. xD he was asking for suggestions, though we can assume in patrols in the past he's brought up what a source of life it was, and while it's his first thought, he hasn't voice that at all.
