It was not long until they were all back in camp, Rosestar with Webpaw and the kittypet on her heels. She motioned with her feathery tail to Webpaw to put the magpie on the very top of the fresh-kill pile so that Sparrowpelt could judge if it was a bad omen or not-- bringing this kittypet here could be a bad idea for their alliance with RiverClan if it was.
She did admit she felt a little bad for possibly causing a ruckus in the middle of the night by waking up her medicine cats and her deputy-- but they were ShadowClan. Night hunting and night ambushes in battle were their specialty. They could not be the clan of shadows if they did not enjoy the dark.
"Wait here." Rosestar murmured to Twotone, and then looked at Webpaw. "Webpaw, you may either get some rest or stay here with the kittypet. It's up to you." She nodded quietly at her silver-furred apprentice. Webpaw staying with Twotone could be helpful to keep the kittypet calm, as the scent of fear could awaken the entire clan.
The rust-colored leader popped her head inside the warriors' den and tapped a paw on Onyxfeather. "Onyxfeather, I apologize for waking you but I have an important matter to discuss." She padded out of the warriors' den and made her way to the medicine cat den. "Sparrowpelt. Crowpaw. I have something I need to show you."
Once she had rallied her most trusted cats, Rosestar returned to the clearing in the camp where Twotone sat. "This kittypet has asked to join us, and I am considering it-- he caught that magpie in a heartbeat. Faster than some of our current apprentices." She nodded at the fresh-kill pile. "We have the least apprentices of any clan, and our kits do not join their ranks for a few moons. However, need alone does not an apprentice make, and this is a decision I think a leader should not make alone. What do you think?"
