It was no secret to ShadowClan that Spottedpaw loved her sister. The tortoiseshell she-cat had always looked upon her sibling with adoration and care, and was constantly fussing and fretting about the hyperactive kit as if she were a second mother. It was less of a need to nurture however, and more along the lines of a borderline unhealthy obsession. Growing up, her shyness had rendered Blossompaw her only friend, and the small apprentice nowadays had trouble allowing her beloved sis to make her own choices and live her own life. She was so hyperactive...what if she ran off alone? Got hurt? Worse, what if she was taken advantage of by Webpaw? No, those two could not be together. Blossompaw was much too pure and innocent for a scoundrel excuse of a tomcat like himself.
Her possessiveness of Blossompaw was indeed unhealthy and perhaps slightly unnerving to see. But Spottedpaw was simply unaware of how disturbingly overbearing she could be, and saw herself instead as protecting her from harm. Blossompaw was hyperactive and reckless and constantly teetering on the edge of danger...How could she ever let the little she-cat out of her sight? The moment she did could spell certain doom. And it wasn't like she could trust their mentors or anything; as if they understood Blossompaw as well as she did.
But apprenticeship had proven to be a right pain in the tail hole. Not only had she been forced apart from Blossompaw, but Webpaw had also become a prominent figure in her life. Spottedpaw practically festered with jealousy at seeing the tom get along so well with her sister. And although she'd given it all in her power to keep the two apart, it was as if they were continuously drawn back to each other like magnets. It was even more annoying that Webpaw didn't seem at all flustered by her 'terrifying' death glares and poisonously unfriendly frowns.
It was because of this that on this particular day Spottedpaw had awoken before the moon had even begun to set. As the tip of the sun peeked above the horizon, the new apprentice paced the camp back in forth, her tail lashing with every step. The frog she'd tried to swallow down lay untouched by the fresh-kill pile, and even though her stomach rumbled incessantly nothing could tear her eyes away from the apprentice's den. The moment Blossompaw emerged was the moment she'd swoop down, perhaps invite her for a hunt, maybe even just spend some lovely quality time with her sister...Away from Webpaw for once. She felt a smug smirk tug at the corners of her muzzle. At last it would just be her and Blossompaw, just how it was supposed to be!
