BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Shortly after giving birth, Rowanfrost's mother suffered from postpartum depression, and was unable and unwilling to care for her kits. When her condition showed no signs of improving, she was removed from her place in the nursery to prevent any further damage from being inflicted, and her kits were given to another queen to raise. Having never experienced that crucial bonding period in their first moons of life, it left her three children somewhat damaged, though they all dealt with it in their own way.

Rowanfrost, the most stable and level-headed of the three, took over from there. Though he was dealing with his own grief as well, he put it aside in order to look out for his siblings, who mean the world to him. Aside from Laurel, they are the only beings in the world that have his full trust, and even now, now that they are older and starting to drift their own ways, he attempts to look after them.

He has been a friend to Rowanfrost since he became an apprentice. A few moons older, Laurelfang has always observed Rowanfrost struggle with his family, but has also understood that it was a fight that Rowan preferred to keep private. Recently, however, Laurelfang has made advancements towards Rowanfrost in an effort to alleviate some of the latter’s stress, an action that Rowanfrost has reciprocated. For now, they are casual lovers, and Laurelfang is Rowanfrost’s closest friend. Though promiscuous, he is a thoughtful and observant friend, and fiercely loyal to Rowanfrost.

Poppy is Rowanfrost’s younger sister. Their relationship used to be very close, and it still is, but with her recent pursuit of Thrushfoot, they have begun to drift slightly apart – Rowan doesn’t think that he’s good enough for her, but Poppyheart, who still suffers from abandonment issues with the loss of their mother, is reluctant to walk away from a bad relationship, and feels as though she needs him to be happy. Though she’s needy and lacks confidence, she’s a good girl at the end of the day, and loves her brothers dearly, although she is still slightly afraid of Thriftfang.

THRIFTFANG

Rowanfrost’s older brother, making him the oldest of the three, Thriftfang dealt with their mother’s abandonment through aggression. While this made him unstable and unapproachable for moons, Rowanfrost was able to get through to him during their apprenticeships, and they have maintained a close bond ever since. He displays greater self-control these days, but has still been known to lash out here and there. Perhaps the bitterest of the three, he regrets his days of mindless aggression, and often feels guilt over the wounds (however minor) he inflicted on his siblings.

THRUSHFOOT

A good-looking young warrior and Poppyheart’s love interest, Thrushfoot is a promiscuous, arrogant tom who is merely using Poppyheart for all the attention she pays him; her need for him makes him feel important. Even though he knows it breaks her heart, he has often been affectionate with other females, and doesn’t care much how she is affected by it. He doesn’t tolerate any doubts from her, and has lashed out at her more than once, much to Rowanfrost’s fury. At the moment, Rowan considers Thrush his greatest enemy, and would do anything to keep him away from his sister.
