This didn’t make sense. Not one teeny tiny bit. It just wasn’t possible. Yet, he seemed to be yelling that out into empty space for all the notice existence itself was taking. Somehow, some way, there was a very normal human standing in the middle of the TARDIS at the worst possible time, in a wedding dress. Every explanation, every consideration, everything that rushed through his mind at a million miles a minute (a relief from the alternative thoughts), seemed to be falling blank. She was a perfectly normal human, not showing any signs of anything else. Yet he kept talking, cycling, sorting.
Until with a sudden, loud clap, and flare of heat and pain across his face, he was stopped, and sent stumbling back a step. His jaw fell open, as he lifted a hand to touch his cheek, staring at the woman in front of him. “What was that for?!” Donna huffed, in a way almost equivalent to a bear about to roar, and his head snapped toward Rose, as her laugh rang out through the small space. If the situation had been different, and his face not burning so much, he might have laughed with her, or at least taken peaceful pleasure in the relaxed noise. Right there and then though, he just looked between the two women.
"Sorry, Doctor, but you kinda deserved it." He opened his mouth, lips twisting into the shape of a ‘what’, but, he didn’t get much further than that before Donna was yelling at him again, and his eyes were automatically back on her again, as he took another half-step back. "Take me back. Now!" He looked to Rose. Somewhere, that that briefest of moments, it was almost for permission. They weren’t done here. They’d lost the moment, that little crack. But it still didn’t feel quite right to leave, not without saying so to the open air. Yet, she met his gaze with amusement, and that was enough. "You heard the bride."
The Doctor threw himself toward the console. “Right! Fine! We don't want you here anyway! Where is this wedding?” It was enough to have him back into action, flipping leavers, swirling dials, pressing button. He flung himself into action, only pausing to glance up toward Rose. Donna was pacing around like an angry bear, however, a constant interruption from what was really at hand. It was getting to him more and more the longer she was there. “Saint Mary's, Hayden Road, Chiswick, London, England, Earth, the Solar System.”
He huffed out a breath, throwing himself around to the side. “Right, Chiswick!” Immediately, however, the jolt the TARDIS gave was off. Sure, it’s usually shaky start, but there was something wrong about it too. It had his brown furrowing as he reached around, balancing things out, stabilising the flight, moving quickly, focused. Yet there was a grind to the humming and groaning of the machinery. That shouldn’t have been happening. They hit the ground hard, and it felt like he’d barely balanced himself, before Donna was charging for the doors again. Yet, his attention was on the console, and the whole TARDIS gave a low shudder.
From somewhere out the door, he could make out Donna’s voice, but he dismissed it. “ I said, Saint Mary's. What sort of Martian are you? Where's this?” He reached up to touch the central column. “Rose, can you handle her? There’s something wrong, she’s… digesting? Recalibrating?” His voice broke off onto a low tangent of thoughts, as he reached for his tool bag again.( alee )
