half-face - - -Locking ones self away was quite the trial for any cat to confront. Half-face was no exception. In the moons that had passed since he spoke with Pinestar to express his fears of being less than functional as a deputy and thus returning his position to one more "equipped." Rather, not borderline insane. The once proud and firm tom had turned into half hermit after nearly mistaking an apprentice for a shadowcat and had snapped out of the delusion before nearly attacking. He'd failed his clan, his dear mother and father, and even worse Pinestar. The leader had believed in Half-face's abilities and he'd repaid his kindness by getting sick and going mad.
Half-face swept forward his paws swift and lanky, resulting in a soft ripple of his flesh moving to adjust the weight with each step. The tom's pelt was heavily disheveled considering his long coat several loose areas poked forward. He looked as if he hadn't groomed himself in weeks if not moons and the tom wouldn't admit the opposite if asked. The once sturdy warrior's cheeks appeared gaunt and sunken into his face. His pinkish nose now held a more orange shade of dirt plastered to his frame. His claws had gone untrimmed by stone and were deadlier than ever before. His long white whiskers seemed to droop close to the ground as he stalked toward a favorite gnarled oak tree.
The warrior moved in silence as if he was the fog itself. He smelled more of the earth than a clan-cat. He'd still retained his loyalty to the clan but he couldn't bare to show his face openly to them. He slept mostly during the day and hunted during the night depositing prey into the pile in secret. He ran his open patrols that were just himself marking over territories and the like but he always went out of his way to avoid his clanmates. He simply couldn't face them yet, not in this condition. A wisp of his tail fluttered forward as he launched into onto the lowest branch of the old tree. Stretching his upper body forward to latch onto the next branch he dragged himself up continuing until he mounted four branches high. His emerald eyes sparked into the darkness as he watched in silence.
