Falconclaw
We are Alive, Here in Death Valley
Stalking through the grass with his head and tail low, Falconclaw stalked a small but colorful bird, his focus entirely on his prey. He was not nearly as skilled a hunter as Cinderstep but he was determined to provide for his Clan anyway. He had invited his siblings to meet him here for a hunt, but had decided to get an early start. He felt determined that he wasn't going to let Cinderstep out hunt him this time, even if she had every time before this.
He loved competing with his siblings, even in a contest he was almost certain to lose, and it was nice to get out with them and let his guard down. If other cats saw the way he was with his siblings his reputation would almost certainly be ruined.
Closer. Closer. Just a few more steps - Now wait, wait- NOW!
He sprung just as the bird was about to take off, managing to catch its wing with a slow, but precise, swipe of one of his massive paws. The bird tumbled to the ground with him and he scrambled to kill it before it could regain its composure and take flight again. A clumsier kill then he would have liked, but at least he had gotten it.
Unlike most SkyClan cats, he preferred earthbound prey, since his large size made it difficult for him to jump and strike as quickly as his Clanmates and made him wary of climbing into the upper branches of the trees. Still, he made due, and every once in a while managed to bring back a bird or two. Sometimes he wished he was able to hunt as well as his sister, but he was also glad that she had something that she excelled at that he and Boulderheart did not.
Speaking of his brother, The silver tabby was surprised he hadn't heard his brother lumbering through the woods like a lopsided badger yet. He scooped up his catch and made back toward the fallen tree where he had asked them to meet.

Noes: Not the greatest thread starter ever but you know...
