stagstrider
Stagstrider swallowed as the leader started speaking. The last thing he was really wanting was to listen to the public scolding that was about to come their way. However, it started differently, and for a moment, Stagstrider could only stare as the news of Pepperstrike’ demotion came up. Really? Another deputy? StarClan help them. What was it with their clan? What were they becoming to have so many cats prove not suited for the role? It made his fur crawl to think about. These sorts of serious thoughts were not one the tom welcomed. But, what he could welcome, was the announcement of Snowfall’s name.
For all his discomfort and frustration, Stagstrider lifted his head that little bit higher. Snowfall, yeah, his other brother would make a good deputy. Even though that twitch did continue to concern him. Oh well. The least the tom could do was straighten, and try to put some energy into his voice. Snowfall deserved it, deserved to be congratulated, to be welcomed. “Snowfall! Snowfall!” He yowled into the crowd almost competing to be the loudest. Though, he was pretty sure Icepaw was doing that without issue. Stagstrider relaxed himself, a brief flicker of a smile across his face, before suddenly, and black and white form appeared, stumbling back toward him.
Stagstrider let out a small squeak, backing up slightly. “Aaah-aahhh….hhiiii there! Sorry Stagstrider, I didn’t see you there. I think—uh, I think I’ve eaten a bad mouse and…” Stagstrider shook his head, reading forward with his soaked tail to give the tom’s shoulder a few damp pats. “Hey, it’s uh, no biggie, chill, man.” It was a momentary distraction, that disappeared the moment the leader spoke again, and immediately, Stagstrider’s ears flattened. Not far away, he didn’t miss Whitewhisker getting to his paws, practically shaking with… He didn’t know, but it had the senior warrior ducking his head a little lower.
"i'm going to bed. i'd appreciate it if...you could all leave me alone for a little." The tabby flicked an ear of acknowledgement as the white tom disappeared toward the warrior’s den. Stagstrider couldn’t even really bring himself to challenge it and follow. “There you go, Starlingstorm. Lesson of the day,” he joked weakly to the black and white tom at his side, swallowing, before lifting his head a little. His brothers sat below the thorn branch, and the tom let out a long breath. StarClan. What had they done.dandelionpaw
Dandelionpaw watched Icepaw for a long moment, as the tom give him a puzzled look. The white tom simply stared back, and twitched his deaf ear. “Ya think so? That’s too bad!” The tom gave a little shake of his head. It was endearing, really, that Icepaw did want to help, but, it seemed like much bigger than that. Tucking himself into an even smaller ball, the white tom stared up at the leader’s looming forward, ears lowered against his head. However, it was those words of deputy that came first, and immediately, his ears were up again. Another deputy? He supposed it had to be normal to get this many of them, right?
He kept the question to himself, though, as Snowfall’s name fell from the leader’s lips. The warrior, now deputy beside the two brothers, got to his paws. "it's an honor to have been chosen to stand as your deputy, pinestar, for however long that may be. i give my service to skyclan in any way possible to make it better." It felt like Snowfall had barely gotten the words out before Icepaw was speaking, and Dandelionpaw found a small smile twitching at his lips. “Pinestar that’s the best choice ever!” Yes, he agreed, it was a great choice. The timid tom looked to the deputy with curious blue eyes. As his brother swung around, Dandelionpaw ducked slightly, instead meowing to Snowfall directly, “you’ll be a great deputy, Snowfall.”
Pinestar wasn’t done, however, and the white tom flicked his tail against Icepaw’s side to get his brother’s attention. “Hey, he’s not done,” Dandelionpaw murmured, a flicker of amusement crossing his face. But, as the leader spoke, his expression faded into one twisted with confusion. Wait, they’d broken the borders? Why? If there was no good reason, why break what the rules were? Sure, he didn’t like rules or want to follow them much, but, border were there for a reason. Did warriors do this all the time? Dandelionpaw was confused. “What were they thinking?” he meowed? Probably a little louder than he should have.
But, the meeting seemed to be coming to a close with that, and immediately, the white tom straightened a little, looking to Icepaw. “Why would you want to go into the water, anyway?”brightfeather
Brightfeather flicked an ear, leaning slightly closer to Firefalcon as the she-cat spoke. “I would assume that because their faces are guilty, they broke a rule they shouldn’t have. If they had looked angry, I would suppose they were the attacked by the rule breakers. I can only hope mercy is in order.” The ginger she-cat bobbed her head in agreement. There was something in the way the she-cat spoke that had the warrior a little surprised. Did Firefalcon really think that something unjust was coming? “I suppose it depends what they did. Though given Pinestar’s brother and ex-apprentice are in there, I imagine they’ll get off easy on whatever they’ve done.”
Not that it was the issue first discussed. Brightfeather straightened slightly with the news of resigning. Another deputy, so soon? StarClan. What was it about this clan that seemed to go through them so quickly? The ginger she-cat gave a little shake of her head with disbelief, glancing toward Firefalcon. She seemed to agree with what was happening though, so, a good sign regardless. Especially as the announcement of Snowfall’s name broke the air. A good deputy choice. Immediately, the ginger warrior grinned, straightening. “Snowfall! Snowfall!” But, just as quickly, things moved on, and the leader was addressing their damp patrol.
Brightfeather flattened her ears almost immediately. What? They’d crossed the border willingly? What sort of cats did they think they were? The she-cat twisted around to stare at the four, surprise etched across her face. She thought they’d be bigger than such… ridiculous behaviour. Border may have been a daft idea, but they were there for a reason. Not to mention, was there any appeal with getting that wet for a fight? StarClan help them. Brightfeather gave a little shake of her head, jaws firmly pressed shut. Disappointing, that was for certain.
It seemed though, that the reminder that came with the event, was all the leader had to offer, and immediately, she climbed to her paws. “I’m happy to come along, Snowfall! If you’d like my paws giving assistance!” She called out across the clearing, before turning to Firefalcon. “Hopefully RiverClan don’t decide to make our lives difficult due to all this.”tagged: @july , aurum
