PERSONALITY
HONEST : Stormbird used to have trouble voicing his opinion, but ever since his family merged together, that problem has slowly dissolved. In a large, wild family like his you have to be rather blunt to not get stepped all over, so he's become quite straightforward. However, he isn't the type to speak without thinking unless he's quite comfortable with someone. Unless he knows you quite well, it's unlikely you'll see his more bold and rude side. Storm is always changing though, and this is slowly becoming less of a problem. He's gotten to the point where he cares less about appearances and feels that life is too short not to tell others what you think rather than tiptoe around it and suffer for not speaking up sooner.
INSIGHTFUL : He does a lot of thinking, as his job requires him to. Stormbird sees his rank not as a job, but a lifestyle choice and takes it rather seriously. As such he doesn't only help heal people, despite that being a large part of his duties. No, Storm is also largely involved and passionate about offering his Clanmate's mental and physical support. Be it acting as a shoulder to cry on, a source of honest advice, a friend in hard times, or even a therapist of sorts, Stormbird is willing to do it all. For this to work, he often thinks long and hard about his patients and what to do to make them feel more comfortable. He also tends to give pretty spot-on advice due to him spending a lot of time observing his Clanmates and doing his best to accommodate to their needs.
FRIENDLY : As far as Stormbird is concerned, everyone deserves at least one friend or beam of support in their lives. He is more than willing to provide that for anyone in need of it. This encompasses all the cats he meets, but primarily ThunderClanners, due to him being their medicine cat and all. He is always trying to treat others as kindly as possible, and dislikes awkward or uncomfortable situations. Due to his boosted level of confidence compared to when he was younger, he is able to easily greet and make conversation with total strangers in order to make them feel welcome and safe in his presence. This also makes his job easier, as a calm cat is easier to treat.
LOVING : When he was young, Stormbird had a hard time being confident, mostly because everyone else seemed so upbeat and social. He's the type of guy that tries to find beauty in everything he looks at -- excluding himself -- and nearly always succeeds in doing so. Once he finds this beauty, Storm finds himself growing fond of that thing or person. He doesn't even have to know them to admire their grace or the steadiness of their voice. It's these simple things that he finds to be in awe of that makes Stormbird a truly appreciative and loving cat. It's not hard for him to care for others, and once he's comfortable with them he is extremely supportive and shows all the love he possibly can in order to let the other party know how much he values them.
PROTECTIVE : Growing up with his brother, Rainfang, he has come to adopt his ideal that the weak must be protected. This also goes for those he cares about. Stormbird values all life, and protects it with whatever strength he can. When he sees someone being mistreated, bullied, neglected, or put down a certain instinct to fly to their aid kicks in. Perhaps its a mix of his training as both a warrior and medicine cat, or maybe its his family influencing him again. Either way, Storm is definitely an advocate of peace, love, and happiness. He'll do whatever it takes to make those around him attain this.
SARCASTIC : While Stormbird is possibly one of the sweetest cats you'll meet, he also has a harsh side to him. His sense of humor often drips with sarcasm and blunt comments. None of it is meant to hurt anyone's feelings, he's just found that sarcastic jokes are often times the funniest ones. Even though he takes his work and Clan seriously, Storm has a great sense of humor and is all for fun and games. After all that's how he bonded with his step-family and became who he is today!
AWKWARD : When faced with cats he doesn't know well, Storm can be kind of awkward and have trouble finding conversation topics. This isn't as bad as it used to be, but he still struggles with it quite a bit, and often times finds himself staying quiet when first meeting someone to scope them out and see what they find interesting or funny before really engaging in any in-depth talk. This can make him seen standoffish or ant-social at times, but it's simply him struggling to figure out a stranger.
CLUMSY : While he was pretty good at fighting and hunting as a warrior, Stormbird has always been a klutz. Especially while in a rush, he often times tangles his limbs up or trips over something. This means he always has at least one bruise, cut, or ache. However he's not just physically clumsy, he's also kind of graceless with his words when he's nervous. Stormbird is quite eloquent when he's had time to collect his thoughts, but when put under pressure he stutters and mixes up his words a lot. This frustrates him, and has also been a source of teasing since he was young.
INSECURE : Owlfire and the rest of his family has toughened Storm up quite a bit. He's not quite as sensitive as he used to be, and has gained a lot of love and confidence for himself. Sadly his body image is rather lacking. Despite compliments from Rainfang, Owlfire, and Sleetsong, Stormbird feels chunky and odd-looking compare to his Clanmates. It's not quite clear where this has come from, but he finds himself getting quite down and sick with himself when he starts to compare his physique and appearance to others.
DEPRESSED : This trait is something that is a source of constant worry for his mother. Stormbird sometimes gets in a bog where he hates himself and gets pessimistic about life. It's something he's taught himself to hide well, but always ends up tearing him down on the inside. This is when he's the most critical toward his appearance and social awkwardness. Thankfully this isn't something that occurs constantly, but it is hard to shake off once it comes on. Storm's depression is a subject he is hesitant to speak of due to his desire to not worry his mother and Clanmates.

HISTORY
This story begins long before the birth of its protagonist. It all began with Sleetsong. The she-cat was always the rebellious type, disobeying her parents and shirking her duties to have fun with her friends. In fact, that's how she met her first true lover, Minkclaw. Before him, all of the other toms she'd been with were simply to tick her parents off, but he was different. Mink was charming and strong, and best of all he knew how to have fun. The pair always had a blast together, even if they ended up being given apprentice duties for it. However, their once blissful relationship shattered when another tom caught Sleetsong's eye. His name was Boulderbelly. He was arguably stronger than Minkclaw, and quite the stark opposite of him. With a serious and hardworking nature, it puzzling that he even caught the she-cat's eye. Perhaps it was his goofy side that intrigued her. It peeked out only when he wasn't doing his duties, and when it came out, he turned into a fun-loving guy. However he was never as wild as Minkclaw or Sleetsong, and that is what ended up coaxing Sleet into settling down with him. Boulderbelly was reliable, older, and mature.
Not even a moon into their relationship, Sleetsong was pregnant with Boulderbelly's kits. Jealous and hurt, Minkclaw distanced himself from the couple. He couldn't openly show his anger, because he and Sleetsong had never been a solid mateship. They'd both cheated on one another, but always ended up right back together. This time seemed different though. Boulderbelly was already a father, and knew well enough how to take care of the nervous Sleetsong. And take care of her he did. The tom was by her side every moment possible, taking her prey and helping her come to terms with her new responsibility as a mother.
Two moons later, they had two kits named Rainkit and Stormkit. They were the light of their parents' world. Boulderbelly and Sleetsong doted on their kits often, and gave them all the love they could muster. For once, Sleetsong felt content and grounded. Boulderbelly would care for her tenderly and be a father to her kits that Minkclaw could never be. Sadly that wasn't true. When the kits were four moons, Boulderbelly was found dead at the base of a tree. The incident had happened while a patrol was in sight - unbeknownst to Boulder- and they reported that he had intentionally flung himself from a high branch. Sleetsong was horrified, having been unaware of Boulderbelly having any depression; however, after consulting with the medicine cat, she found out that her mate had indeed struggled with depression, and also a disease that fluctuated his emotions from a manic sort of elation to a deep pit of depression. It hadn't been something Boulderbelly openly spoke about, and had also been a private matter between him, the medicine cat, and the leader. They had been looking for herbs and some sort of mental therapy to help him through it, but apparently he hadn't been able to take it any longer.
Despite her grieving, Sleetsong raised her kits with the love of both a father and mother. It was a difficult job, especially when the kits asked questions, but it was something she had to do. Stormkit was a quiet thing, deeply reflective for his age. He didn't quite understand the events at the time, but it did leave him with a sense of emptiness when he saw other kits wrestling and cuddling up to their fathers. Rainkit, noticing this, took on the role of a supportive and protective brother. He looked after Stormkit as best as he could and dragged him into games with other kits often.
When the kits were named apprentices, Sleetsong went back to her duties as a warrior, but still kept close tabs on her children, fearing that one of them might have inherited their father's mental illness. Rainpaw continued to support the painfully shy Stormpaw. Being extroverted and popular among their peers, Rainpaw didn't understand Storm's struggle with making friends and socializing. Even so, he still attempted to appease his brother by introducing his friends to Storm and making a point of dragging him along on most adventures. Stormpaw obliged only to satisfy his brother, but didn't quite enjoy the merry-making and antics of the other apprentices like Rainpaw did. Instead of learning to fight and hunt with his mentor, Gladefrost, Stormpaw was much more interested in medicine. He was a patient and observant hunter, and stubborn in battle, but much preferred the starry pelts of their ancestors and earthy scent of herbs to the metallic stench of blood.
Despite his preference for medicine rather than the life of a warrior, Stormpaw kept training with Gladefrost. In the middle of his apprenticeship, Sleetsong reconnected with Minkclaw. He and Rainpaw had grown up being told about the time before their childhood, and had detected the bitterness with which their mother had told them of her love before Boulderbelly. Sleetsong had always been completely honest with her kits above all else. She cared about them more than anything, and they were the only ones she could bare her soul without fear of being judged or hated because they loved her just as deeply. However the children were quite skeptical of Minkclaw, especially since he also had kits. Their names were Coyotepaw, Weaselpaw, and Owlpaw. Rainpaw and Stormpaw weren't close to the litter, but they did know them quite well. The trio was rather brash and obnoxious, always getting into trouble for no good reason. For that reason, and also because of Weaselpaw and Owlpaw's bad attitudes, Rain and Storm tended to avoid their company if possible. Once their parents started to become interested in one another again, and re-connect though, the large group of apprentices were forced to become closer and get to know each other better. Owlpaw clung to Stormpaw, finding his soft-spoken nature easy to dominate and manipulate to her advantage, especially in arguments with her brothers. Rainpaw on the other hand, was tossed into the mix with Weaselpaw and Coyotepaw. Rain, being used to having more of a say in family matters, often butted heads with Minkclaw, Weaselpaw, and Coyotepaw. Needless to say, there was a lot of drama and tension, but the arrangement ended up working out somehow.
As the children aged and grew into warriors, they rubbed off on one another. Owlpaw, renamed Owlfire, helped Stormpaw gain more confidence and taught him to be a bit more forward with his opinions. In return, Stormpaw, renamed Stormbird, mellowed out his sister's more fierce personality to a more tolerable sassy and sarcastic attitude. Coyotepaw, who became Coyotetail, had always had more of a head on his shoulders, and became less of a show-off over time. He and Rainpaw, who was renamed Rainfang, became quite close. Weaselpaw, named Weaselthroat, was the odd one out. He seemed to refuse to grow up and therefore was awarded his warrior name later than the rest. It made him bitter and confrontational, which nearly lead to his exile once before. Thankfully his family was able to calm him down before it could get that severe.
As a warrior with a newer, healthier amount of confidence, Stormbird considered voicing his medicinal affinity more and more. The idea only grew more appealing as time went on, and he eventually told his family of it. While Minkclaw, who had grown quite close to Stormbird and Rainfang, had wanted a warrior out of his step-son, he was willing to accept almost anything he aspired to do if that meant he was happy. So with much encouragement, Stormbird approached Sandfeather and Falconstarstar about becoming the medicine cat's apprentice. He was still a freshly minted warrior at the time, and already had a basic understanding of medicine, if more advanced than most warriors due to his close attention to the happenings of the medicine cat's den. It wasn't difficult to argue his case, and there actually wasn't much arguing to be done in the first place.
Time went by peacefully after that. Minkclaw and Sleetsong had one last kit named Fawnkit, which Stormbird helped deliver. She is growing swiftly and is a clever mischievous little thing.
Stormbird and Rainfang have become closer since their family had come together so long ago. They'd bonded unwittingly over being raised without a father, and gotten inseparable after dealing with the storm that was their step-family. There had been misery, confusion, misplaced hate, and even arguments. Even so, the brother got through it and had become nearly like the same cat. Rainfang was the ever popular one, finding ways to make the most unlikely of friends, and Stormbird was the gentle and sensitive one who just couldn't quite get the awe that his brother so easily earned. Even so, they were thick as thieves. Rainfang often visited for wounds from either a tussle or a border skirmish. It worried Stormbird each time his littermate fought, because losing him would mean losing a large part of his heart and his world; it would crush him. However it wasn't Rainfang he should have been worried about losing. Weaselthroat has become a continual problem, and Stormbird is worried he might eventually get himself exiled for sure.
