Well look at that, it was if Whitewhisker’s yowling had actually caught them attention. Stagstrider was about ready to headbutt the water itself, as a very familiar form appeared on the other side of the bank. Ashenfang, and what looked like a decent sized patrol. StarClan help them. Pinestar was going to kill all six of them, standing there. A scurry of paws back on the bank has Stagstrider looking back briefly to Vervainpaw, before down to Minkpaw, and sigh on his lips, and whole body flinching as the warrior’s voice rung out. “SkyClan cats! You are trespassing on RiverClan territory. You need to leave. Now.” Jeez, did he think he was the deputy now or something? Stagstrider’s ears flattened against his hear, eyes squeezing shut for a moment. That was not helped by Whitewhisker opening his big mouth.
Stagstrider couldn’t quite catch all his words from across the water, but he got enough. “… not Pinestar. You don't get to tell me what to do.” StarClan, swimming was one thing, this was definitely not what he’d been trying to encourage along. This was too much of a serious situation for him at the best of times. “Shouldn't of wandered to a place where your leader has no power then, minnow-brain.” Stagstrider looked to Spiderfang and Silvershade, trying to get a sense of where they stood in this whole event. “Whitewhisker, come on, that’s enough!” He called across the river, the seriousness tasting strange on his tongue. He didn’t do this, he didn’t know how to do this. He spoke in jokes, but even he couldn’t joke about what they were doing.
Instead, he turned his attention down to Minkpaw, the apprentice unfairly encouraged into breaking the rules. His tail twitched a few times, before, in a low voice, he spoke down, making sure that Silvershade, no doubt the closest of them, didn’t hear. “I’m sorry, this isn’t likely going to end well, we shouldn’t have forced you into this.” He looked back to Vervainpaw, speaking to the two of them. “If you two want to head back to camp, to get Pinestar or Pepperstrike and put an end to this, go, otherwise, I somehow don’t think this is going to end without blood.” he ignored the indignant snort from the apprentice on the bank. “Of course I’m going back, You’re all going to get your tails torn off for this.” Vervainpaw hissed, and Stagstrider rolled his eyes, flicking his tail a few times dismissively. “Yeah, yeah, go on then.” he turned his attention to Minkpaw, studying her calmly. “What do you say?”
Stagstrider lifted his gaze, and scanned the far bank, where more RiverClan cats seemed to be emerging. No, he’d wait till Minkpaw made her choice, and the three warriors theirs, before he moved any closer.
