Pinestar let out a low, long breath, his eyes closing for a long moment, before he opened them again, and came to a pause. Overhead, the dense oaks looked, their thick, gnarled branches tangled together high above. Not much sunlight could be seen beyond their thick masses from the ground, but that didn’t fuss him too much. No, sunlight wasn’t always needed. Looking forward, however, the sunlight wasn’t his concern. The patrol were there, after all, to check the border and make sure that Falconstar was keeping to his word and not touching the border itself. With careful eyes, he studied the ground below for any signs of disturbance. Not that there appeared to be any.
“Seems we’re free of both badgers and ThunderClan, at this stage,” he meowed, naturally loud voice seeking out the rest of the SkyClan cats with him, with little care for if he was overheard by any wandering ThunderClanners. They didn’t need to bother SkyClan if they were keeping to their side of the border, after all. Carefully, he moved forward again, gesturing with his tail for the patrol to keep moving. It had been a while since he’d lead a patrol himself, but as per how it once was, when he did he chose the cats personally to accompany him, even if they didn’t always mesh together.
“Can anyone smell anything out of the ordinary?” he asked after a moment, proceeding to lead the patrol closer to the treeline itself. It was a familiar place that SkyClan had fought hard to stay in control of, and right there and then he couldn’t savour the feeling more. There was something unique about the memories that clung to the old oaks. “Be mindful of the border, it can come suddenly in places, and I have no urge to debate someone overstepping with Falconstar today,” he warned, as an after-thought.
