HE WILL NEVER BE ( SATISFIED ) YOU'LL NEVER BE ( SATISFIED )

blackwolf made it her business to know anything that involved her family—how else was she supposed to do her job of protecting them if she was clueless to the ongoings of their individual lives? of course, she didn’t waste her time obsessing over where they were every second of the day or followed them around wherever they went; blackwolf would go crazy if her only purpose was that. but knowing gave her the comfort that she could always be at their side in a moment’s notice, ready to catch them when they fall, be the support they needed to keep standing.so, really, noticing the things she did during last night’s gathering could easily be swept under the innocent intent of looking out for her sister. blackwolf really didn’t expect flurrypaw becoming involved in issues like this. six moons old, for starclan’s sake! blackwolf nearly went into cardiac arrest. the young warrior played it off as a childlike awe for her colleague. nothing bad about admiring someone and their abilities in the same field of profession, her conscience urged. and for the duration of the travel back to camp, blackwolf repeated it like a mantra, and it succeeded in lowering her uncertainty, the panic that closed up her throat. but she couldn’t—wouldn’t—fool herself. she had to ask. had to know.
morning came and went. the sun bore down at them now at its peak, and blackwolf ignored the itch under her plush fur and the even deeper tick in her chest. her yellow eyes searched for flurrypaw, and her pawsteps quicked once she located her sibling. her expression didn’t bother changing into a more pleasant one. there was no time to waste. any longer, and blackwolf thought she might actually implode. “so who’s that crowpaw fellow last night?”
