throughout her young life fenheart had become quite accustomed to being teased about her love of water. both of her sisters like to insist to clanmates that their parents had traded the real fenheart for a riverclan kit when she was born, as silly as that was. perhaps it was only thanks to her name, but she was particularly fond of the vast marshes that spanned shadowclan's territory even in spite of her long, thick coat. it wasn't as though she were swimming though- she hated getting her back wet. just her belly and paws were quite enough, thanks. she did tend to spend an abundance of time in the marsh, as she did then, appreciating the noisy serenity.
creatures of all kinds sang their loving melodies that evening, no surprise since new-leaf was upon the clans at last. everyone was relieved to be free of leaf-bare, insects and amphibians no exception to this. fenheart herself thought the season was long overdue, and had spent plenty of twilights over the last moon or so appreciating the crisp sunsets and warming breezes when she had completed her duties for the day. this was one such evening, though the air was still around her, and the watery paths she trod were nearly free of movement aside from the ripples she herself caused. it was good to find peace alone, the chaos of clan life always tended to grate on her after an exceptionally long day.
the big tabby stepped lightly, using slick stones to pass over a deeper channel of water so she could reach a pine-covered island of long grass. she settled beneath a low-hanging branch and tucked her forepaws neatly under her chest. the warrior felt rather peaceful as she watched the pink-laced skies melt into a dreamy periwinkle over the treetops. her favorite bit was how the colors were so perfectly mirrored in the swamp's waterways. suddenly her eyes felt heavy.
